Quaker Oatmeal Simple Harvest Oats CerealHello my name is Sarah and I am addicted to oats. I officially have a problem. Lately, it seems like I can not eat enough of this simple, yet nutritious grain. (Well actually is is considered quick a complex carb). I don't know if it's because the weather is changing and I am turning towards heartier foods or if my body is subconsciously telling me it is requiring something in this great grain! Either way, I am glad my addiction is for something healthy.

And I am not just limiting my intake to oatmeal. If it has oats in it, chances are, I'll try it. Steel cut, stone ground, rolled, Irish, instant, cooked, RAW...whatever it is - I'm game.
My favorite way to eat oats is actually soaking them in almond milk and mixing in other things such as sweetener, butter, nuts, fruit, etc., but I was in the mood for something different for my bedtime snack. So I decided to try something new. Enter: Quaker Oatmeal Simple Harvest. Labeled as an "all natural instant multigrain hot cereal", I figured why not give it a try.

I microwaved a packet of the Apples and Cinnamon flavor and it was delicious. The cinnamon was very evident in the taste as were the baked apples. Some ingredient labels on 'healthy' oatmeal can read like a small book, but this is not the case with Simple Harvest. The ingredient list is short and sweet: Whole Grain Rolled Oats & Wheat, Rolled Barley, Whole Grain Rolled Rye, Sugar, Sweetened Dried Apples, Whole Flax Seeds, Oat Flour, Natural Flavors, Cinnamon, Salt & Molasses.

Each packet of Quaker Simple Harvest Apples and Cinnamon Oats Cereal has 150 calories, 1.5 grams of total fat (no saturated or trans). a low 4% of the RDA for sodium (90 mg), 4 grams of protein and 32 grams of carbohydrates which includes 15% of the RDA for dietary fiber (4 grams) and 12 grams of sugar.

I like the fact that there is no corn syrup or partially hydrogenated anything, and that I can pronounce EVERYTHING on the label. Overall this is a nice change to my normal soaked oats. It is a creamy, comforting treat that I will indulge in many more times to come!

I love this oatmeal and plan to have it for an afternoon snack today. I also like the pecan flavor , but the vanilla almond is too sweet for me.

I totally think that Quaker should make more varieties like this!
