Quaker Chewy Bars with Protein

Quaker Chewy Bars with ProteinMy local Albertsons supermarket was having a 10 for $10 sale for Quaker Chewy Bars (a box of these chewy bars are usually about $3.19). The Quaker Chewy Bars With Protein had just recently come out, so I decided to give them a try. I personally LOVE Peanut Butter so I bought a box. I actually only bought one flavor because I wasn't expecting these bars to be any good, but little did I know how much I would love them!

When I had my first bite, I could definitely taste the peanut butter that was enhanced by the sweetness of the bar. I could also see the peanuts and the peanut chips clearly - it was nice being able to recognize what I was eating. You can actually taste a difference between these bars and the original chewy bars since these bars have a slightly gritty after-taste (not unpleasant though).

These bars actually reminded me of the South Beach Diet Protein Bars but in a smaller serving and a little sweeter. Each 28 gram bar provides 110 calories, 3 grams of total fat including 0.5 grams of saturated fat (5% and 3% of the daily value), 5 grams of protein and 17 grams of total carbohydrates, which includes 6 grams of sugar and 1 gram of fiber (4% of the RDA).

I personally thought the South Beach Diet Bars are a little bit bland, so these Quaker bars are a nice change. Still, the bars are rather small, and 5 grams of protein doesn't exactly make this a "high protein bar." This is more of a small, but delicious, portable, on-the-go snack for me.

Wow, iateapie is on a serious streak of bar reviews. That aside I think your review is spot on:pretty tasty, kinda small, exaggeration of protein content, but overall a nice snack option.

Before someone else asks it's 1 gram of fiber that was suppose to be written instead of 1 gram of protein(4%of the RDA).

Hi @Cereal. thx for catching the mistake with the fiber - all fixed now.

We've been trying to focus on one type of product or theme each week, hence all the bar reviews this week.

I got these for my hubby and we both love them!

My only problem with the line of Quaker granola bars is the use of HFCs in their products. Since eating naturally sweeted products, I can't really digest HFCs well. However, I have found that if I drink my unsweetened soymilk with the bar I don't experience the gastro-intestinal complaints. Since most of the soymilks that are sold in easily consumable portions are of the sweetened variety, I can only do this when I'm at home, so this is not the on-the-go snack for me.

I don't tend to think of quaker has having tasty bars, but I am on a peanut butter kick right now, so I may have to try it!
