Kim's Light Bagels

Kims Light BagelsI'm always on the lookout for a tasty, low-calorie bagel, so I was really excited to find Kim's Light Bagels. They are offered in a delicious variety of flavors including plain, wheat, cinnamon, blueberry and onion. I tried the plain, wheat, and cinnamon bagels. Each was great, but I think the cinnamon ones were my favorite. If you think "Light" means that something is missing - then you would be wrong when it comes to these bagels.

The bagels aren't huge. Like Western Bagel: The Alternative Bagel, each is 54 grams - about half the size of regular bagels. But they're a filling snack on their own and an excellent sandwich base for a meal. They were developed by Kim Bensen, a woman who lost a remarkable 212 pounds through a lot of hard work, not surgery. Given her background, it's not a surprise that the bagels were developed with healthy eating in mind.

I ordered these bagels online at KimsLightBagels.com for $2.19 a bag (with a $1 discount per bag); shipping is $11 for 1-6 bags, so it makes sense to buy in bulk. The nutritional stats are as follows (variations reflect different flavors): 110 calories, 1-1.5 grams of fat (no saturated or trans fats), 180-200 mg of sodium, 4-5 grams of fiber, and 5-7 grams of protein.

I LOVE Western Bagels, unfortunately I can only find them online. So I'm looking forward to trying Kim's (also can only find online). It's funny, when I first got the bagels I thought they were NORMAL size and was like "WoW! All this bagel for so little calories!" And then I saw the ones in the bakery... and those babies are MONSTERS. Certainly unnecessary in size. lol

Is the fiber subtracted from the total calorie count in the nutrition info? And how does the size compare to a frozen Lender's type bagel?
