Ken's Lite Accents Asian Vinagrette Salad Dressing Spray

Kens Lite Accents Asian Vinagrette Salad Dressing SprayI was never a big salad dressing fan, but once in awhile I like a little change. On a recent visit home, I saw a few bottles of Ken's Lite Accents in the fridge, next to the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray. After glancing back and forth a few times, from one to the other, I decided to give my steamed broccoli and cauliflower the star treatment, switching from the norm of butter spray and spices and indulging them with a kick of Ken's Asian VInagrette. And wowza - what a kick it got!

There was a hint of soy sauce type flavor, a little vinegar, with a pinch of saltiness and a pinch of sweet. It was strong, but not overpowering. Ken, whoever he may be, suggests using 10 sprays to dress your salad. I was anticipating needing far more sprays than suggested, however, each spray of Ken's delivers maximum flavor, so a little really does go a long way.

This 10 recommended sprays of Ken's Lite Accents Asian Vinagrette Salad Dressing Spray provides 15 calories, with 1 gram of fat (no saturated or trans fats), and 2 grams of carbohydrates (both from sugar). It has 80 mg of sodium, which really isn't bad, but will add up if you use several servings at once. As you may have noticed, it is not a fat-free dressing, however, the nutritionals are overall pretty good.

Ken's was free for me, since I got it while I was visiting my parents, but when I returned to my home, I saw Ken's was on sale in my local Pathmark supermarket for $2.50 (originally priced at $3.69). Instead of purchasing immediately, I went on Ebay, as I love to do, and found coupons for $2 off of each bottle. I paid less than $2 for 20 of this same coupon. Then, on top of that, there was a coupon around the necks of the bottles in the store, for $0.55 cents off each. I stocked up with a few of the Asian Vinagrette I knew I liked, as well as one each of the Raspberry Walnut, Balsamic Vinagrette, and Honey Mustard. As the cashier rang up every coupon I handed her with no question, every single bottle went from $3.69 to $2.50 (store discount), to $0.50 cents ($2 off coupon), to negative $0.05. I was essentially paid a nickel for each bottle I got that day. Definitely worth it!

Would I pay the $3.69? Not on my budget, but I would probably buy it for $2.50, though, especially the Asian Vinagrette. After the initial impression that flavor gave me, though, I must admit the others were a disappointment. I would definitely recommend the Asian Vinagrette, but as for the others, I cannot say the same.

I think I'll stick to Kraft's Asian Sesame Light or Newman's Oriental dressing - they're both cheaper.
