Egg Beaters Egg Whites
I'll admit it. I like egg whites ... plain, scrambled egg whites. I got really into eating them a few years back when I discovered that one white only has 15 calories and is still a significant protein source. I don't, however, like cracking open egg after egg, separating the whites. I inevitably end up making a big mess, plus I feel guilty for wasting all those yolks. I have no idea why I haven't purchased Egg Beaters before, but I finally got with the program and decided to try Egg Beaters 100% Egg Whites.
I coated a small pan with non-stick spray and poured in ½ cup of the whites. Like eggs, the whites cooked up very quickly and actually came out fluffier then when I hand-separated them from whole eggs. I also noticed that the Egg Beaters didn't stick to the pan nearly as bad as whites normally do. As for taste, let's face it ... egg whites is a bit of an acquired taste. Still, they were good as far as egg whites go and had a nice firm texture to them. My favorite thing about these is there are none of those stringy white membranes thingies that you get in whole eggs.
The 32 ounce carton contains 20 servings which equals the volume of one whole egg with 5 grams of protein, 25 calories, no fat or cholesterol. I paid $5.99 at Wal-Mart for the carton which I think is pretty good considering you're getting about 4 cups of whites, besides avoiding the hassle, mess and waste of not dealing with whole eggs.
Other than the 5 grams of protein per serving, these don't have much else in the way of nutritional value but can be easily jazzed up with some veggies, salsa or maybe some cheese. Paired with a slice of whole grain bread and/or some fruit and these handy dandy egg whites are a quick, nutritious and low calorie start to any day.

Whenever I break eggs, I seem to make a total mess, so I'm interested in trying these and having less to clean up in my kitchen. :)
We're with you - sticking to plain, ol' fashion eggs is the better way to go. Although, it's not always necessary to get rid of the yolks. True, the yolk does contain fat, but it also contains many vitamins and minerals that are not present in the white.
Try mixing in one whole egg for every three egg whites. This way, you get all the healthy goodness just mentioned, as well as a little more flavor.

Eggbeaters is ALL I eat. I won't ever touch a "real" egg unless it's hardboiled, and even then I take the yolk out. (I just don't like yolks anyways) But I scramble these up all the time, I don't remember what the shelled egg tastes like anymore, but I don't miss it. :D
I just can't justify the price of these; while the ease of use appeals to me, the fact that I can buy an 18-egg carton for under $2 makes me put up with separating actual eggs.
Eggbeaters is the only egg that don't make me sick. I love em
