Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Almond Milk
After pouring a glass of the chocolate flavor, I didn't notice much of a difference in terms of color, texture, and thickness from my regular soy milks. The taste was a different story. I don't think this unsweetened almond milk is the best thing to drink straight from the glass. The flavor is odd - the vanilla wasn't very good, and the chocolate was slightly better. But all hope is not lost. I did really appreciate the creaminess of these milks. I added it to my daily smoothies and it made them delicious! I can definitely see me keeping these around when I want to add some taste to beverages (tea, coffee, smoothies) but not add a lot of sugar or calories. I just don't see myself drinking this straight from a glass (or the carton! oops!). In a previous review of the Chocolate flavor, Caroline suggested adding a sweetener - and I definitely agree. Each cup of unsweetened Blue Diamond Almond Breeze provides between 40-45 calories, 3 grams of fat, 2-3 grams of carbohydrates, which includes 1 gram of fiber. There is less protein in Almond milk compared to soy milk with 1 to 2 grams instead of the usual 6 or 7 grams. But there is 50% of your daily needs for vitamin E and 20% of your daily needs for calcium. I purchased this product at my local health food store, but I have seen them in major supermarkets as well. One container was on sale for $1.99. Not bad, considering there is four servings in a carton. With the low calories, I would keep some of this on hand to use in smoothies and hot chocolate. \\UPDATE// It's been a few days since I started drinking Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Almond Milk and while at first I wasn't too thrilled with it - But now, I actually like it SOOO much more. I guess it's grown on me!!! Comments

Jessica said: I agree Maggie...I love them! The Vanilla Unsweetened one is my absolute favorite, since I am a disgrace to womankind and do not much like chocolate. However, even I don't mind the chocolate flavor of this, since it is not overly chocolatey. Pop in a sweetener and maybe some cinnamon, or some sugar free syrup (I like the caramel, but there are millions of flavors). Yum! ANd they are really great to put in recipes in place of milk, as well. These were a wonderful invention.

Laura said: I drink the vanilla unsweetened quite a bit, and I agree with Jessica that it's GREAT for recipes. I made a corn chowder the other day substituting unsweetened vanilla for heavy cream, and it was delicious and SO much healthier!

Paranoid said: I love the unsweetened chocolate -- it's flavorful enough that it feels like a treat, but light enough that I don't feel bloated and full after having a glass. In other words, the perfect snack. I don't like the vanilla as much; I found myself adding a spoonful of sugar to my glass to make it more palatable.

McBoo said: I have been using the unsweetend vanilla and chocolate flavors with jello fat-free/sugar free pudding. I put 2 boxes of instant pudding mix and 2 level teaspoons of guargum in a blender. Add 1 container of Almond Breeze and blend for 1 minute. You need the guargum to make the pudding set. It is delicious.

I actually really love all of the Blue Diamond almond milks - all of the unsweetened ones anyway. I don't really care for the sweetened varieties. I drink them plain all the time :)
