Kashi TLC Soft Baked Apple Cinnamon Cereal Bars

Kashi TLC Soft Baked Cereal BarsWhen I saw Kashi TLC Soft Baked Snack Bars (Baked Apple Cinnamon Flavor) recently pop up on the shelves, I got excited because I have always been a fan of Nutri-Grain bars, but as I grew more nutritionally aware, I have been on the lookout for something more natural, i.e. where the first ingredient in the filling is fruit instead of high fructose corn syrup.

While the concept of Kashi TLC Soft Baked Apple Cinnamon Cereal Bars reminds me of a Nutri-Grain bar, there are an innumerable amount of differences. The taste is heartier and simply better. The "crust" of the bar is soft and hearty, yet slightly flaky with just enough sweetness. The filling is not gooey and messy, but more of a soft and firm jelly bursting with an all natural fruity apple flavor. There is no saturated fat, a few grams less sugar and the first ingredient of the apple pie filling is pear juice concentrate as opposed to high fructose corn syrup.

The nutrition label on these bars is something for Kashi to be proud of. Sure, an addition of vitamins and minerals would only up the ante on this product, but honestly, it is not necessary. Each satisfying 55 gram bar contains 110 calories (once again ... try to periodically look past the 100 calorie packs for healthier options that may leave you more satisfied, such as Back to Nature Banana Walnut Bakery Squares or Kashi TLC Original 7 Grain Crackers), 3 grams of fat (5% of the RDA), no saturated fat, no cholesterol, 105 mg of sodium (4% of the RDA), 3 grams of fiber (10% of the RDA), 9 grams of sugar and 2 grams of protein. A few of the all natural ingredients that appear on the ingredient list are evaporated cane juice, Kashi seven whole grains & sesame flour, organic whole wheat flour, organic whole oats, honey, expeller pressed canola oil and oat fiber.

I paid $2.50 for a box of 6 Kashi TLC Soft Baked Apple Cinnamon Cereal Bars, which is more than worth your money. These bars make the perfect addition to a quick on the go breakfast, snack or wholesome dessert. These are even a better caloric and nutritional value than many of the smaller nutrition bars.

I LOVE these, and they're much less sweet than the Nurtigrain ones. Definitely a new addition to my on-the-go snacks!

what is the relationship between sugar and fiber? If the sugar is 3 times more than the fiber, does the body even use the 3 grams involved?

@sir jorge. They act in different ways so your body will still use the fiber - and our body does need some sugar.

I have only tried the Blackberry Graham flavour, but omg was it good!!

@Rachel. The Blackberry Graham flavor is awesome. These things are great.
