Chex Mix Chocolate Chunk Bars

When I picked up a box of the new Chex Mix Chocolate Chunk Bars I never dreamed that I would end up doing a review on them. However, after a quick glance at the nutritional panel, I whipped out my laptop in delight - it does say "Good Source of Whole Grain" so I feel justified in eating ... I mean reviewing it and as you'll see, the nutrition facts aren't all bad.
First and foremost, these bars should not become an everyday treat. Each 35 gram bar contains a satisfying 140 calories, 3 grams of fat (5% of the RDA), no saturated fat, no cholesterol, 135 mg of sodium (6% of the RDA), 2 grams of fiber (9% of the RDA), 13 grams of sugar and 2 grams of protein.
The first ingredient is whole wheat flour (providing 8 grams of whole grain per serving). So far so good - but that's where it ends. There is a whole array of sugars (high maltose corn syrup, milk chocolate chunks, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, cocoa and honey), oils and flavors (artificial and not) that make an appearance in the not so short ingredient list. Much to my surprise, I didn't see partially hydrogenated oils.
Now I will move onto the chewy, crunchy, sweet and salty tastiness. Just as a forewarning, these gooey bars are a little on the messy side, mostly from the thin layer of sticky chocolate flavored sugar on the bottom as seen in the picture to the right. That aside, the taste is phenomenal. With each bite, your teeth sink into chocolaty sugar coated Chex and snap on the pretzel sticks blended throughout. Furthermore, the chunks of chocolate sprinkled on the top add an extra level of sinfulness.
While Chex Mix Chocolate Chunk Bars are not the healthiest thing on the planet, I do think that they merit a review on Iateapie.net. Dish out $2.50 and receive a box bursting with 6 mouthwatering, portable creations. I would definitely buy these again, but as I said, not too regularly. There are times when that craving for something sweet comes on strong, and rather than reach for a very unsatisfying small piece of chocolate, which will undoubtedly lead towards me grabbing more and more - I can have 1 of these and be content.

They sure do look tasty, and a bar would be a good portion rather than eating 1/2 a bag of the addicting stuff.

Have to say, not one person in my family cared for them at ALL. I even called the company and told them, which I never do. Try someone elses before you buy an entire box.
Agree with Annita. The box looks good and I thought they'd be tasty...but way to sweet, gooey, and just not good.
The chex mix (Chocolate Chunk)bars are the best thing I ever had in my entire lifetime. It was so crunchy and delicious. When I put it in my mouth it started to water.
