Campbell's Select Harvest Vegetable Medley Soup

Campbells Select Harvest Vegetable Medley SoupThe soup aisle has a LOT of options - just check out all our soup reviews, but when I saw that Campbell's Select Harvest Vegetable Medley was new on the shelves, I decided that it was time to try something different.

The flavor in each spoonful is rich, deep and the title of this soup is well deserved because a wonderful "vegetable medley" fills your mouth. The soup is chock full of fresh tasting vegetables like celery, tomatoes, corn, green beans and peas with rustic chunks of potatoes and carrots making the loudest statement. The tomato based broth contains visible bits of dried onion, parsley and garlic. My only complaint is that the vegetable variety does not come with a low sodium option.

The nutrition facts for Campbell's Select Harvest Vegetable Medley Soup are phenomenal, with the previously mentioned sodium count being the exception. One cup (half a can) provides 100 calories, 0.5 grams of fat (1% of the RDA), no saturated fat, 480 mg of sodium (20% of the RDA), 3 grams of fiber (12% of the RDA), 6 grams of sugar and 3 grams of protein. A few vitamins and minerals are also added to your daily regime in the form of 70% for Vitamin A.

Some "low sodium" soups also have 20% of the RDA, like Progresso 50% Less Sodium Chicken Noodle Soup - that's why you really have to read the label instead of just the flashy marketing copy.

On its own, your 1 cup bowl of soup is probably not going to keep you full for very long, so you might want to add something else - but nothing too heavy, like a light sandwich. Even though this soup is not low sodium, it can fit nicely into any balanced diet. Consequently, I enjoyed every last bit of Campbell's Select Harvest Vegetable Medley and I have a feeling that $1.79 of my next shopping trip will be spent on another can.

I'm a huge fan of soup for lunch -- just ate some in fact!

Good to know this is another veggie one I can add to my mix, as long as the rest of my lunch is light on the salt shaker.

I am glad that there is no MSG in these soups, but does these cans themselves contain BPA? This is a dangerous chemical that is not regulated but is put into plastics and cans. It has me concerned. I am trying to eat healthy because I am pregnant.
