Back to Nature Organic Apple Crisp Cereal

Back to Nature Organic Apple Crisp CerealThere are so many cereals on the supermarket aisles that I sometimes don't know what to choose. There are days when I stick to my favorites, like Fiber One Caramel Delight Cereal, and there are those times when I want to try something new - especially if I see it on sale. That's how I came to try Back to Nature Organic Apple Crisp Cereal (love the Target markdowns).

The high fiber flakes are thin and dense, which equals crispiness and a little snap. Combine that with oat clusters - there were a few big clusters that I had to tackle, but they are mostly small morsels of sweetened granola bits - and just enough dried apple slices, and your bowl will be screaming for milk. The dried apple slices come to life when hit with milk, making their presence known in each bite by upping the already prominent apple flavor profile. Even more, the dense, crunchy, hearty nature of this cereal stands strong within a bowl of milk (no sogginess here).

Each hearty 3/4 cup serving (why can't all cereals have a 1 cup serving size?!) provides 180 calories, 1.5 grams of total fat (2% of the RDA), no saturated fat, no cholesterol, a low 100mg of sodium (4% of the RDA), 4 grams of protein 10 grams of fiber (almost HALF of what is recommended daily) and 15 grams of sugar (45 grams of total carbohydrates). There is also 9 vitamins and minerals providing from 4 - 60% of the RDA.

The calorie count may seem a little high, but that is because of the dense nature of the cereal. Plus, with the extremely high fiber count, you will not need more than one serving to stay satisfied. The ingredient list is not exactly short. However, because of the prominent organic proclamation, you can assure yourself there will not be any foreign components - no artificial preservatives, flavors or colors.

I paid $1.84 for a 12 ounce resealable bag of Back to Nature Organic Apple Crisp Cereal (originally $3.69), which was a steal. However, I think this cereal may be worth full price from time to time.
