Guiltless Gourmet Hot Chocolate Brownie Dessert Bowl

Guiltless Gourmet Hot Chocolate Brownie Dessert BowlThe first time I saw this I thought it was a joke - I mean, doesn't the title sounds a bit contradictory - guiltless ... chocolate ... brownie? Could this be be for real? Could someone really have developed what I had only conceived of in my day dreams? Well, the name, Guiltless Gourmet Hot Chocolate Brownie Dessert Bowl certainly got my attention and got it into my shopping cart. Honestly, the taste of these things was the foremost thought on my mind all the way home, and I couldn't wait to rip into this.

WOW! Talk about exceeding my expectations! After a 30 second spin in the microwave and another impatient 30 seconds of waiting to let the cake cool, I discovered that this was a bowl of chocolaty delight. The dessert comes with a fairly hefty pouch of fudge sauce (evaporated cane juice crystals, syrup, water, cocoa powder, nonfat dry milk, corn starch and kosher salt). I used a little less than half of the packet and liberally covered my sweet treat thereby kicking it up another notch. By this point, I could wait no longer. The second that this chocolate creation hit my mouth, I knew I had discovered a sensational product. The brownie is fudgy and rich, tasting like something you have just pulled out of the oven. The texture is chewy and dense with the fudge sauce adding even more to the moist and smooth consistency! Furthermore, the size could not be more perfect. The 2 ounce brownie will leave you nothing short of satisfied.

While the taste was phenomenal, the nutrition facts weren't really "Guiltless." Each bowl (58 grams) has 200 calories, 3 grams of fat (5% of the RDA), 1.5 grams of saturated fat (8% of the RDA), 190 mg of sodium (8% of the RDA), 3 grams of fiber (12% of the RDA), 30 grams of sugar (ugh), 4 grams of protein and an astonishing 25% of the RDA for Iron. This actually has more calories and twice as much sugar than Betty Crocker Warm MINI Delights

The sugar content is high no doubt, so remember to cut back on the fudge sauce, and don't go eating this too often - repeat - DO NOT eat this too often - 30 grams of sugar is too much to ingest at one time! The list of ingredients is short and sweet, with a mere 9 ingredients creating the brownie portion of this dessert. How Guiltless Gourmet can create such a sensational product with so few ingredients is beyond me, but I like it! The price is usually about $2.79, but I found mine on sale for $1.50 and I have seen them at Target for $1 while they were being discontinued (I don't know what Target was thinking).

While I certainly am not going to make this a part of my regular grocery list, it will definitely be one of my go to products for occasional indulgences. I'm also looking forward to trying their other varieties, like Black Velvet and Bananas Foster Cake.
