Entenmann's Little Bites 100 Calorie Pack Chocolate Chip Squares

Entenmann's Little Bites 100 Calorie Pack Chocolate Chip SquaresEntenmann's is not known for providing diet-friendly foods, but they made an attempt to slide into the "junk food made healthier by selling 100 calorie packs of little more than air" World with their Entenmann's Little Bites 100 Calorie Packs. I picked up the Chocolate Chip Squares in the hopes that I might be wrong.

I am torn between these SMALL desserts. First of all, these soft baked chocolate chip squares are dense and chewy like fresh baked cookies. They are so sinfully delicious! That being said, each 6.5 ounce box contains 8 little packs with 5 little cookie bites each. Entenmann's Little Bites 100 Calorie Pack Chocolate Chip SquaresAs you can see in the picture, each square is just about the size of a Life Saver mint. I don't think could even satisfy my cravings, and nobody but a child can eat these and not look around for something else to eat in 5 minutes.

A pouch of five of these mini cookies contains 100 calories, 4 grams of total fat (6% of the RDA), 1.5 grams of saturated fat (8% of the RDA), 55 mg of sodium (2% of the RDA), no fiber, 9 grams of sugar and less than 1 gram of protein. Somehow, Entenmann's sneaks 10% of the RDA for Calcium into each pack (how does it all fit?). The first ingredient is bleached wheat flour (hence the no fiber), followed by sugar, high fructose corn syrup, natural and artificial flavors and a bunch of other unmentionables.

While each pack is only 100 calories (I don't think it could be many more for the size), the rest of the nutritional panel is not very stellar (saturated fat, no fiber, no protein, long ingredient list). While these scrumptious LITTLE treats taste phenomenal, they leave me unsatisfied, wanting something else sweet (or maybe just another pouch).

I paid $3.69 for a box of 8, which is not by any means cheap (the reason that I have been putting off trying these little babies), plus, I have yet to see them on sale or any cheaper. I give Entenmann's an A for effort, but I doubt that I will be buying these 100 Calorie Pack Mini Cookies again in the very near future. While they are delicious, they do not fit very well into my healthy eating style or budget. Besides, Uncle Wally's Smart Portion Oatmeal Raisins Cookies (100 calorie packs) have less fat, more fiber, better ingredients and are just as delicious

I have a secret...the 100 calorie packs of Chips Ahoy are awesome. They are like little graham cracker cookies studded with chocolate bits. Yum.
