South Beach Diet Low Fat Cottage Cheese Cups
South Beach Diet (now called South Beach Living) has released several kinds of cottage cheese flavors, sold in 4 ounce servings. I'm afraid to say that the individual portioning of their Low-fat Plain Cottage Cheese is its only good selling point. The cheese itself does have a nice creamy taste, but it's terribly dry. After taking a bite, I actually mixed some buttermilk into my cup and let it soak in before finishing it. That improved the texture, but removed any convenience that the cups toted. The curds themselves were also very randomly sized; some were mere fragments, others half-inch chunks. I was just really disappointed with this product. A four pack of South Beach Diet Low-fat Cottage Cheese Cups costs about $2.00 (which is about 25% more than a regular tub of cottage cheese). One cup provides 80 calories, 1 gram of total fat, 0.5 grams of saturated fat, 360 mg of sodium (15% of the RDA), 11 grams of protein, and 6 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 3 grams of sugar - no fiber. There is also 20% of the daily value of calcium. While those are nice stats for a snack, the taste of this was horrible and I will not be buying this again. I suggest trying Breakstones Live Active Cottage Cheese instead. Comments
