When I first saw Snyder's of Hanover Multi-Grain French Onion Sunflower Chips, I thought these chips might just have a bit too much going on to be any good - Multigrain AND French-onion AND sunflower! That's a lot to pack into a little chip. Still I gave them the benefit of the doubt because it sure sounded good.
After eating a few of these chips (okay - the entire bag), I can't say if I was impressed or disappointed. These look like SunChips, which I totally adore - crispy, salty, healthy - what's not to love?! Snyder's is also crispy and crunchy, but much more airy than SunChips. They also have a nice rustic texture, but I found them to be a little bland and under-seasoned. The French Onion flavor was extremely mild - and even non-existent on several chips. I don't know if they skimped on seasoning to keep the sodium lower than SunChips, but you do notice it.
One serving of Snyder's of Hanover Multi-Grain French Onion Sunflower Chips (16 chips) contains 140 calories, 6 grams of total fat, 0.5 grams of saturated fat, a low 190 mg sodium, and 2 grams of fiber and protein. A 14 ounce bag costs around $3, which is comparable to most brands of chips.
The stats are similar to most other chips that we have covered and you can even buy both the French Onion and Cheddar varieties in 100-calorie packs, but for overall quality, you can't beat ... yeah, you guessed it, SunChips!
