Late July Organic Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers

Late July Organic Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers Pre-portioned snacks have become a popular convenience prominently displayed on supermarket shelves across the country. Yet, despite their enticing appearance, many of them are simply junk food in smaller portions. Late July Organic Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers holds their own in a very special way.

Each 37 gram pack has 4 sandwich crackers with a creamy peanut butter filling. They do not have the same greasy feel as the standard sandwich cracker, and if you are in the mood for a salty snack with a slight hint of sweetness (from the organic peanut butter), these are a fantastic choice. Did I mention that they were salty? I would have liked a little less of that salty flavor, but they are still delicious. The crackers are very flaky, reminding me of a Ritz, while offering a simple and natural taste. Unlike the "name brand" ones that barely have any actual peanut butter in them, these actually taste like peanut butter.

While the organic ingredients in Late July Organic Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers offer vast improvement over the enriched wheat flour type traditional crackers, the nutrition facts is not vastly different. Each 37 gram package (4 crackers) provides 160 calories, 8 grams of total fat (13% of the RDA), 2 grams of saturated fat (9% of the RDA), 12% of the RDA for sodium (280 mg), 4 grams of protein and 17 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 2 grams of sugar and 1 gram of fiber.

The fat content may seem high, but comes from a reliable source: Organic Peanut Butter (the second ingredient). After getting past the slightly elevated fat content and the over-the-top sodium count, things start to look up. The first ingredient is organic wheat flour and you will not find any corn syrup, artificial ingredients, preservatives or cholesterol.

I found individual packs of Late July Organic Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers on the mark down shelf of Kroger (my new favorite place to find goodies to sample) for half price at a mere $.50. However, if I was craving them, I would without a doubt pay the full price. These are a worthy organic substitution.
