Morningstar Farms Mushroom Lovers Burger

This review was done by Jamie Schwartz. Jamie is a Penn State graduate living on the Upper East Side in New York City and working in the entertainment industry. "I love working out (especially on the elliptical), eating healthy, going out with friends, and of course… eating!"

Morningstar Farms Mushroom Lovers BurgerI recently tried Morningstar Farms Mushroom Lover's Burgers for the first time and they're a new favorite! The texture is more interesting than a regular soy patty because you can actually see large pieces of mushrooms (button and portabella), as well as onions and red peppers. This makes it seem much less processed than some other veggie burgers. My favorite way to eat them is to microwave them for a minute on each side to thaw then spray with Pam and grill on a pan for two or three minutes per side. This gives them a slight crispness on the outside and they stay nice and moist on the inside. I either eat them on whole-wheat bread or sometimes just plain with a slice of American cheese so I can taste the mushrooms better.

Each Morningstar Farms Mushroom Lovers Burger patty has 110 calories, 6 grams of total fat (9% of the recommended daily amount), 1 gram of saturated fat (5% of the RDA), 9% of the RDA for sodium (220 mg), 7 grams of protein and 8 grams of carbohydrates including 1 gram of sugars and fiber.

I bought a box of 4 burger for $4.99 for a box containing 4 burgers. Whether you eat meat or not, you should definitely try out these burgers (they are not vegan though). Try them with Pepperidge Farm Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns (120 calories for a very large bun) and Borden Fat Free Sharp Cheese Singles (30 calories). And don't forget, Romaine instead of Iceberg lettuce.

Wow those look great! I love all their other versions so I might just have to give this a try ;-)

My only complaints are the price and the protein content. Other than that, they are amazing!

I have tried most of Morningstar's burgers and have adored all that I've tried. I can usually find them on sale for $2.00 a box; I've found that they're far more expensive at health-food stores than at a normal grocery store.
