Jensen's Orchard All Natural Chips

Jensens Orchard All Natural ChipsThere are many alternatives to thin, oily greasy potato chips, and we have a few favorites here at Iateapie.net, like Roberts American Gourmet Tings, OCocos Chocolate Crisps and Solea Sea Salt Polenta Corn Chips. But still, we keep looking for that perfect chip that has little or no calories (impossible I know). I spotted Jensen's Orchard All Natural Chips in the store - you can't miss the bright green colors, pictures of tomatoes and green chips on the packaging - and since this implied (in my mind) that these chips were health-ier, I decided to give it a try.

You would think that chips made with real tomatoes, spinach and potatoes, might not taste great, but put those doubts aside because these are awesome. They are thicker than regular chips, crunchy and delicious - a great alternative to regular chips. They are not very salty, but it takes about a nano-second to get used to that. The bag says that these are dipping chips, but I munched on these sans any other accompaniments, and it was tasty all on it's own.

One serving (1 ounce) of Jensen's Orchard All Natural Chips is 130 calories, 7 grams of total fat (11% of the recommended daily amount), 0.5 grams of saturated fat, 12% of the RDA for sodium (280 mg), 3 grams of protein and 13 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 2 grams of dietary fiber and no sugar. The ingredients are simply potato, high oleic canola, sunflower and safflower oil, sea salt, tomato and spinach powder and turmeric.

I purchased a 7 ounce bag for $3.29 and these are a better option than regular potato chips, but there are other options with less fat, like Baked Lays Potato Chips and Eat Smart Baked Sweet Potato Crisps.

I was just wondering how much 1 oz of these chips actually is. I know for other types of chips it can be anywhere from 10-24 crisps. So these could either be a really good deal or a really bad deal.

When I weighed them out I got about 15 chips.

At 130 calories, they are comparable to any lighter chips.

Carrot, beet, and spinach juice, while being vegetables, are often only used to for their color and add little nutritionally in chips.
