Boca Original Breakfast Wraps

This review was done by Jamie Schwartz. Jamie is a Penn State graduate living on the Upper East Side in New York City and working in the entertainment industry. "I love working out (especially on the elliptical), eating healthy, going out with friends, and of course ... eating!"

Boca Breakfast WrapsAlthough I have my tried and true cereal and oatmeal favorites, I decided to try the Boca Breakfast Wraps to add more diversity to my breakfast routine. They are available in a Southwest and Original version which is what I tried, and I must say that these wraps make waking up a whole lot easier! Just pop a wrap in the microwave and a few minutes later you have a warm delicious whole wheat wrap loaded with meatless Boca sausage, egg whites, and cheese. If you don't like eggs, then you might want to stay away from these, because the wraps are packed full of eggs and meatless sausage, which you would not know was meatless from the taste. I'm not even a big sausage fan but I think these are absolutely wonderful. The only downside is that the tortilla can get kind of stiff and hard to bite if left out for too long.

One box comes with only 2 frozen wraps which cost $5.50. One wrap (1 serving) has 220 calories, 7 grams of total fat and 2.5 of saturated fat (11 and 13% of the recommended daily amount), 27% of the RDA for sodium (640 mg), a whopping 16 grams of protein and 27 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 2 grams of sugars and a generous 6 grams of fiber (24% of the RDA).

These wraps are a good source of protein and fiber (first ingredient is whole wheat flour), and 1 is actually quite filling, but the sodium content is really high, especially for breakfast. I would buy this again (more often is I can get it on sale).

When I was a vegetarian, I loved these. The egg whites mix perfectly with the veggie sausage. Other than not feeling weighted down by the meat in your typical breakfast, I couldn't tell the difference.
