South Beach Diet Savory Pork and Green Beans

South Beach Diet Savory Pork and Green BeansSouth Beach Diet Savory Pork and Green Beans has "tender pieces of pork in a savory sauce with onions, celery and pecans with seasoned green beans and yellow peppers." When you look at this product after taking it out of the box and microwaving it, there is not much to it - pork in a sauce on one side of the tray and green beans on the other side. It actually looks like food you would serve in an institution like a prison or a mental facility. But, I guess that's what South Beach is about, boring, ummm ... I mean, getting back to basics - just meat and vegetables.

When I got down to eating this meal, it wasn't too bad, but there certainly isn't any wow factor. It's something you would eat and then 1 hour later wonder if you ate lunch because you just can't remember actually eating - it is that forgettable. Nevertheless, the pork is tender as they say, and since they didn't have to make any room for that carby pasta or rice, there is plenty meat and green beans. The green beans themselves are also forgettable. I have had quite a few frozen meals where I stop and say, I can't believe the vegetables were that crisp even after I microwaved it. Not so with this. Again, they aren't bad, just ... there.

A serving of South Beach Diet Savory Pork and Green Beans (1 box) contributes 240 calories, 10 grams of fat and 2.5 grams of saturated fat which is 15% of the RDA, 23% of the RDA for sodium, 23 grams of protein and 13 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 5 grams of sugar and 4 grams of fiber (16% of the RDA). This is suitable for all phases of the South Beach Diet and has 5 Weight Watchers Points.

This was on sale for $2.67 when I bought it. While this won't win any awards for taste, it is a decent meal ... that I will not be purchasing again. There must be something better out there in the supermarket aisles for folks on the South Beach Diet. [Note the nutrition facts on the Kraft/ South Beach website this product differ from the box. Always go with the facts on the actual product because the website might not always be up to date].

Mental facility food, that has to be the LEAST glowing review ever. But it is pretty accurate based on that picture.

I've found that I don't really care for the SBD frozen meals.

I don't like South Beach Diet frozen foods, either. They are usually twice as salty as other foods. For example, I had their pizza and i remember the sodium was about 50% for my dietary needs. Their food is ultra salty. On the other hand, there is one thing I do like - they're wraps in the deli section are pretty good but pricey for the amount of food you get. I'm not impressed with South Beach processed food.

I'd like to take issue when you say that SBD is about being boring. It's really about anything but. The only limit is your imagination and cooking ability, which is why I love it. I've cooked some of the best dinners lately following SBD.

You are right that this particular frozen dinner doesn't look to yummy, but not all of the food is like that.
