Promise activ SuperShots is the first fruit and yogurt mini-drink with added natural plant sterols, ingredients clinically proven to help actively lower cholesterol (as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol). A serving of Promise activ provides 2.0 grams of plant sterols (a total daily intake of at least 0.8 grams of plant sterols, as part of a low saturated fat, low trans fat and low cholesterol diet, may help reduce the risk of heart disease).
I wouldn't buy Promise activ for any other reason than to help reduce your cholesterol (and I am a believer in the effects of plant sterols), because the bottles are so small - this really is like a "shot." I bought a 4 pack of the strawberry flavor of and was pleasantly surprised with the taste. It is slightly tangy and not too sweet, with a smooth, milky consistency (not very thick), although there is not much trace of strawberry flavor in this.
One 3 ounce Promise activ SuperShot only has 70 calories, 3.5 grams of total fat (from the plant sterols), no saturated or trans fat, no cholesterol, 1 gram of protein and 8 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 8 grams of sugars (less than 1 gram of fiber). The sweeteners are sugar and sucralose (Splenda).
I purchased a 4 pack for $3.18, which I consider a little pricey BUT if these work to help you lower cholesterol, is it too expensive? Check out this short, but excellent review from MacGuyver, whose cholesterol went down 8 Points 2 weeks after consuming Promise activ 2x daily. I'm also a big fan of Minute Maid Heartwise Orange Juice which has 1 gram of plant sterols per serving (read the review).

This stuff is very effective in lowering total cholesterol, raising LDL (the good kind) and lowering HDL (the gunky stuff). I just tried 1 per day for 6 weeks and had my blood drawn today - the results impressed me and my doctor. Given that it's so good for you and it is quite palatable, I expect now to continue using it for a long time. Too bad it's about $1 per day plus tax!
WARNING!! These things made me sick for a week. They DESTROY the body's natural sodium/potassium balance, and caused serious abdominal discomfort for me. Maybe if you're eating TONS of salt, these make sense. I will never go near them again.
I tried the supershots and wondered if they caused muscle pains. Has anyone else experienced that?
I am looking for a product that will reduce my triglyceride levels and raise my HDL in a four month period.
I can't let this go. V.C. wald is precisely backwards - You want to have high HDL (high density lipoproteins - it's protective) and Low LDL (low density lipoproteins). I'm not sure of the efficacy of the proactive shots, but fish oil and niacin are proven. niacin is good for lowering triglycerides if you can tolerate the side effects of flushing, itching.
I am having stomach
cramps and dirrhea after taking Super shots. Is this a side affect?
I have been using SuperShots on the advise of my dietician, family doctor and Kidney Specialist. I have had a significant drop in my cholesterol and trigl. With kidney problems, the specialist has encouraged using Promise Activ. I am now having a problem finding the product on the shelves of the grocery stores. Is something going on that they are not telling us?
I am wondering the same thing as Mary Ellen. i could not find them at Kroger and WalMart had only a few of the peach. They helped lower my cholesterol and I would hope they stay on the market.
Availability is also a problem at Ralph's, Albertson's and some Vons stores. Would love to know where/when we can get them as they have helped to lower my cholesterol siginificantly. They are excellent!!
I called the company and they told me they stopped production of super shots. I don't know what to do now....as it was only the way for me to reduce my cholesterol. I tried before fishing oil and niacin and it didn't work for me at all! After two years of taking niacin I've got a problem with my liver. With super shots I didn't have any kind of problems at all and it's a devastating news for me that they've stopped to produce it.
I was having trouble finding the Promise Supershots for lowering cholesterol. I googled Plant Sterols and got on some Medical Websites. Check it out. Click on the Medical sites not the Vitamin Company websites. I think there is an issue with the FDA. For a company to suddenly stop production on a popular item seems strange. Keep checking the FDA website for information.

I can no longer find Supershots in any Phoenix or Tucson, Arizona grocery stores. I figured it must be the manufacturer and not the grocery stores. Hoping they will start producing again, since they certainly helped control my cholesterol level.
I tried to special order the Supershots and was told that they have been discontinued. Since taking one shot a day, my cholesterol has dropped by 50 points, so they really work. (Taste good too.) Why would a company discontinue a product that works so well. Perhaps the statin mfgs had something to do with it?!

Supershots has been discontinued in Cinci. Oh as well. We all need to start a petition to the company to bring them back. My father has diabetis and high chol. and blood pressure, Supershots was the best thing ever made and they need to bring it back... immediately!!!!
why has supershots been taken off the market.they cannot be found in pathmark,kingkullen or shoprite.they do work and I would like to know why they have stopped selling them.I hope

No worries! You can buy a product in the vitamin section called "Cholest-Off. It's cheaper than the shots dose to dose and has the same sterol esters.I lowered my cholesterol 18 points without medication with the TLC diet including sterols. Good luck!
