Polaner Sugar Free Blueberry Topping
There are days when I get the strong urge to whip up a batch of pancakes. It just seems like the thing to do on a beautiful weekend morning. Nutritionally, you could do worse than a stack of pancakes if you make them with whole grains and minimize the amount of butter added to them. Until, of course, you drown them in a calorie laden syrup, which will set you back a whopping 200 calories per 1/4 cup (I'm looking at you Aunt Jemima).
Having the craving for blueberry pancakes, I naturally desired a blueberry syrup to top them with. Lo and behold, I spotted Polaner Sugar Free Blueberry Topping at my store. It comes in a little jar lacking a pour-spout, which meant that I had to spoon it out onto my pancakes - that was a little different. The texture, however, was surprisingly thick and ... syrupy. It has a wonderful blueberry flavor, and it's not as sweet as a traditional blueberry syrup, but it's still sweet enough.
One 10 ounce jar of Polaner Sugar Free Blueberry Topping will set you back about $1.50, which is a bit expensive, so use sparingly, because it's worth buying. One serving (two tablespoons) only has 20 calories, or 40 calories per 1/4 cup, no fat or sugar. That's pretty impressive for a syrup of this quality. The sweetener used is Splenda, and don't worry about any off- or after-taste, because there is none.
Another pancake syrup that I heart Aunt Jemima Butter Lite Syrup (read the review) , but that has 100 calories and 25 grams of sugar in a 1/4 cup serving. Sorry Auntie J, looks like Polaner is going to be taking over in my pantry for a while.

Did you mean to write $1.50? That seems reasonable to me.
Polaner was the first one to push "all real fruit". I don't eat a lot of fruit, but my mom made sure to buy this brand when I was a young'un to make sure we were getting the best.
Pancakes always make me feel sluggish, but heck if they aren't good.
YUM! I think I may have to pick this up the next time I'm in the supermarket. You know, it would make a great addition to plain yogurt. Instead of the high sugar syrup that's in regular flavored yogurts, just put a little of this in your plain yogurt...YUM! It would be good with cottage cheese, too. :)

Hello again! I did end up buying this product and boy is it great! If I didn't read this review, I would have probably never tried it! Thanks for a great review of a GREAT product!
Does Polaner still make this? I look every time I'm in the grocery store (maybe I'm not looking in the right place?) but I can't find it :[
You can get it online as part of a sampler pack (here); but I checked the website and it seems they have a new Polaner Sugar Free with Fiber - not sure if that's going to replace the older brand.
