Peace Organic Vanilla Almond Crisp Cereal
There are always several different cereals in the pantry of my house at any given time, because cereal is something I can eat for breakfast lunch or dinner depending on my mood. With my love for vanilla, Peace Organic Vanilla Almond Crisp Cereal popped out at me in the grocery store, especially with the addition of those delicious looking almonds pictured on the box. It's vegan, 70% organic, and sounded wonderful.
Peace Organic Vanilla Almond Crisp Cereal has to hold the record for flake size in cereal. Some of the flakes were literally the size of my spoon which was actually a big drawback while eating. The flakes themselves are pretty bland since they're unsweetened, but they are quite crispy, with a mild corn flavor. The oat clusters are what really sell this cereal. They're sweet, crunchy, and strongly flavored with the delightful tastes of vanilla and almond. The milk becomes infused by this flavor, leading to a bowl full of goodness. As for almonds, I counted a whopping two in my 1 cup serving, which was rather lackluster.
One serving (1 cup) of Peace Organic Vanilla Almond Crisp Cereal contains 210 calories, 5 grams of total fat (8% of the recommended daily amount), no saturated or trans fat, 11% of the RDA for sodium, 5 grams of protein and 38 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 2 grams of fiber and 9 grams of sugars.
I really wanted to like this cereal, because I am really impressed with some of the company's values - each year Peace Cereal donates 10% of its proceeds through grants to grassroots peace efforts around the world. While I enjoyed it, I wasn't enamored by it - and the lack of almonds, bland flakes, and rather pricey tag ($3.12 for a box), will probably keep this cereal from finding its way to my cart again.
