Lipton Ginger Twist Herbal Tea

Lipton Ginger TeaLately it seemed like I couldn't get through the day without at least 2 cups of coffee. Since I hate feeling like I'm addicted to anything, I decided to give it up a few weeks ago. I always loved tea, and still drank it a few times a week, but since getting rid of that coffee addiction I have made it my mission to try every brand of tea I can find in the supermarkets. After finishing off the last packs of ginger tea that I brought back with me from Christmas in Jamaica, I spotted Lipton Herbal Tea Ginger Twist and I was all over it. I absolutely loved the Jamaican Ginger Tea, so I expected nothing less of Lipton - one of the largest retailers of tea in the World. But, alas, I was disappointed.

This tea is just weak. The taste of ginger is so faint that you might miss it. All I could really taste was the sweetness of the 2 Splenda that I added. I expected a strong taste of ginger that leaves your throat a little raspy! I understand that Lipton is probably trying to please the folks who don't want it to be too strong, but what resulted is a generic flavorless tea.

The Lipton Ginger Twist Herbal Tea is 100% natural, calorie free and caffeine free. I should have paid closer attention to the name Ginger Twist and then I might not have been so surprised about the lack of a ginger taste. A look at the ingredients list shows htat ginger is not the only, or even the first ingredient. There is orange peel, ginger root, coriander, lemon grass, roasted chicory root, cinnamon, hibiscus flowers, licorice root, natural citrus flavor (soy) and cloves.

A box of Lipton Ginger Twist Herbal Tea with 20 tea bags, cost $2.50. Even though this is 100% natural, I still expect that if "ginger" is in the name, then I should get some ginger in the taste. I didn't think I would ever find a tea that would get less than a 5 star rating, but ... here it is. There are a few reviews on Amazon.com that think this tea is great however although I love you Lipton, I'm passing on this tea.

Thanks for the great review! I tend to skip the name brand teas sans Yogi. Lipton does have a nice Earl Grey, though.

Have you considered Yerba Mate? Yerba mate is an excellent green tea (although it is a member of the Holly family) with enough caffiene to get you over your coffee withdrawl. It actually makes me focus rather than being jolted like a cup of black coffee.

I've had the regular ginger tea by Lipton and I was equally unimpressed! Actually, the tea was terrible! The flavor was TOO strong and I had to add a packet of sweet and low to even get the tea down my throat! Never again!

I'm a tea lover... Currently, loving this Celestial Seasonings' Honey Peach Ginger tea... it's yummelicious good... For those who like stronger ginger taste, you may add freshly crushed ginger juice... just a wee bit will give an extra kick!

try adding "2" bags of the lipton herbal twist if you want a stronger concotion, use 8 or maybe 10 oz water.

i want the benefits of green tea but not a fan of the taste so i use a bag of any favorite herb tea or a decaff chai tea to mask the green teas flavor & sweetner& U R good.

I love this tea, specifically because of the mild, yet pleasant ginger flavor. It tastes like ginger ale and I drink it without any sweetener. Most ginger teas have too much bite for me.

I also enjoy lipton's ginger twist, with it's delicate mix of flavors. It also happens to be a very inexpensive tea, which works well with my college budget. For those that want a stronger taste, buy a more expensive brand or use two tea bags. You get what you pay for.
