Krusteaz Fat Free Wild Blueberry Muffin Mix
This review was done by Emily Wolter. Emily is a senior in high school who loves scouring the supermarket and trying out new foods. "I live in Texas which makes it even more of a challenge to eat healthy because I am constantly surrounded by fried fast food, but I like a challenge." Emily plans to attend college and major in Food Science & Technology or Dietetics. "I am extremely interested in food and its affects on the body."
Krusteaz Fat Free Wild Blueberry Muffins are very simple to make! All you need is a bowl, spoon, oven, a cup of water and a muffin pan or cups. The muffins do tend to stick to the paper liners, so if you are going to use them, I would still spray them with a little cooking spray! After mixing together the muffin mix and the water, I opened the little can of blueberries and did a double take: "These are blueberry muffins, right?" The blueberries are micro (smaller than a pea) and there is only about a half of a 'tuna can' amount once you drain them (in other words they are more for show)! In the end, they cook up great in 18 minutes, just like the box states! When you take them out of the oven, you will not miss the bakery one bit because the smell of fresh baked goods consumes the room! The tops come out slightly crusty and lightly browned, while the inside is soft and fluffy! The flavor is delightful and tastes slightly like white cake! And there isa hint of blueberry although I topped each muffin (prior to baking) with about 5 frozen blueberries, which added a plump, juicy sweetness to a few select bites. The nutritional information is pretty fantastic when compared to other muffins! Each 17.5 ounce box will produce 11 average sized muffins, each of which has 130 calories, no fat, 280 milligrams of sodium (a considerable 12% of the recommended daily allowance), 2 grams of protein and 15 grams of sugar. The first ingredient is enriched bleached flour and the second main ingredient is sugar, which I would love to see changed in the future. I paid $2.00 for a box of Krusteaz Fat Free Wild Blueberry Muffins on sale and would definitely purchase these again. They are an amazing way to satisfy any sweet craving. I think they would make a great substitute for cake/cupcakes at a birthday party, and the other flavors are just as good. When I had a bread machine, I always bought their bread mixes. Their products are excellent and I wouldn't expect anything less of this.
