Borden Fat Free Sharp Cheese Singles
I've had bad experience in the past with fat free cheeses. They tend to melt oddly, taste bizarrely, and generally have a rubbery or chalky texture. I was delighted to see that as my Borden slices melted between to slices of my favorite bread, everything looked normal. When I bit into it, I was met with the delicious salty-tangy flavor of classic American, along with the trademark gooey and slightly stringy texture. The only thing that did seem a bit off was that it did re-solidify quickly, but that could be due to the fact that the temperature in my house is pretty low. One slice of Borden Fat Free Sharp Cheese Slices contains only 30 calories, no fat, 5 grams of protein and 30% of the recommended daily amount of calcium. Unfortunately, there is also 13% of the RDA for sodium (320 mg). That's not terrible, but it adds up if you eat more than 1 slice of cheese. A pack with 16 singles cost $2.00. Here's the rundown of how my cheese purchases go: I will definitely be buying this again for when I want to make my World famous grilled cheese sandwich; Laughing Cow Light Spreadable Original Swiss Cheese Flavor Wedges to put atop crackers and Sargento Light String Cheese for when I feel those cheese snack cravings. Some would call me a cheese enthusiast. The fact that this doesn't have the usual fat-free cheese shortcomings is very appealing.
