This week it is all about Ice cream, after all
July is National Ice cream Month. Check out all our
Reviews of Ice cream of the low fat variety of course.
Try a flavor you haven't tried before.
The plain version of Oikos is quite similar to Fage. Same great thick texture, but it needs add-ons like honey or fruit to make it truly delectable. Oikos also makes a vanilla flavor, which has just 20 calories more than their plain variety (120 vs. 100 for a 6 ounce container). I had high hopes for this lightly sweetened version, but alas, I found myself adding a packet of Stevia to the container. Unfortunately for you 2% Fage fans, there is no 2% or full fat variety in Oikos line; all their products are 0% fat. Each 6 ounce container of Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt contains 100-120 calories, no fat and an impressive 16 grams of protein. Depending on which variety you choose, there are 7 or 14 grams of sugar. One serving also provides 20% of your daily calcium needs. Oikos is a tasty twist on yogurt - if you add in your favorite toppings. Just like Fage, there is not a lot of flavor going on in this little tub. Oikos costs about the same as Fage, about $1.50 per container. Due to their similar price and taste, I would probably stick to Fage because it has 20 fewer calories per serving, and there are more varieties to choose from. Taste:

Luly said: Fage IS organic. It doesn't say the word on the label, but if you read the back of it, everything indicates that the preparation is just that. I think the other people just wanted to get in on the business and Fage continues to be more authentic |

I totally prefer the taste of FAGE to Oikos. I consider Oikos to be a little sour...and yes, it was NOT spoiled! haha. Also, I like the consistancy of FAGE better because it is a little thicker and less liquidy - more like a rich cream. It's a plus that FAGE is also 20 calories less! :)
