Yoplait YoPlus Yogurt
In order to help out your digestive system (and make you more regular), YoPlus uses a combination of pre- and probiotics. It contains inulin, a natural dietary fiber that comes from chicory root extract which acts as a prebiotic, plus Optibalance, which is a unique blend of live probiotic Bifidobacterium lactis BB-12. Both work to improve the beneficial bacteria in your gut. Definition of Probiotic: A preparation of or a product containing viable, defined microorganisms in sufficient numbers, which alter the microflora (by implantation or colonization) in a compartment of the host and by that exert beneficial health effects in this host - AJCN, 2001.
Definition of Prebiotic: a non-digestible food ingredient that beneficially affects the host by selectively stimulating the growth and/or activity of one or a limited number of bacteria in the colon - Gibson, JNutr, 1995.
One 4 pack of Yoplait YoPlus Yogurt cost $1.99. Each container is 4 ounces and has 110 calories, 1.5 grams of total fat (2% of the RDA), 1 gram of saturated fat (4%), 4 grams of protein and 21 grams of total carbohydrate which includes 16 grams of sugar and 10% of the RDA for fiber (3 grams). There is also 10% of added vitamin A and D plus 15% calcium. YoPlus says try it for 10 days and you should see an improvement - which I interpreted that to mean that I should be going to the bathroom more often. Yesterday was Day 5 and so far so good - there seems to already be an increase in frequency (I'll spare you anymore details). YoPlus is like Dannon Activia, but I didn't want to mention it before and steal YoPlus' thunder. Activia and YoPlus have the same amount of calories per serving, but Activia has no fiber whereas YoPlus has 10% of the RDA. YoPlus uses sugar (not HFCS) and there are no artificial sweeteners. I really enjoyed it, and I actually went back and bought more (mostly to complete the 10 day challenge), but I can honestly say money well spent. Comments

LL said: Anything by Yoplait is not even yoghurt. This is a marketing hype. Real yoghurt, like organic from Nancy's, has no junk ingredients and has a plethora of the health promoting bacteria. This is not a new thing on the block. You are just paying more for another additive and this is truly a waste of your money.

Tanya I would say a snack - I don't know about anyone else, but one yogurt cup could never take me through dinner or lunch - or even breakfast.

Mme.Morra said: Yoplait YoPlus Yogurt is one of the best products that I have ever tried. I had tried Activia and was less than pleased in everyway-you have to eat it everyday for 2 weeks before you "feel" any difference at all which for me was very minimal, also the taste was lacking."Yo" on the other hand has been extremely good for me. Suffering from IBS for it seems like an eternity[if you have the condition I am sure you will agree]I try products that seem to make a reasonable claim to help to relieve/alleviate the symptoms and thus far "Yo" has worked much better than expected. In a couple of days Iwas feeling better and after a full week the "claims" it makes were realized. All this without any of the nasty side effects that I had experienced with "Activia"[bloaty/cramping]."Yo" also tastes really good! the peach is fresh tasting, as is the strawberry. The cherry reminds me of European preserves -I am not that keen on the vanilla, but that is my personal "buds" my Husband liked it just fine. I also found that after I eat it I am not "starving" in 20 minutes as I am with other yoghurts which is another nice perk. I visited the Yoplait website and they have added 2 new flavors :blackberry/pomegranate & cranberry/raspberry they also are offering a $1.00 off coupon - so go and try it you may be feelings better in no time at all! |

What flavors does YoPlus come in? You have got me intrigued now that you mention the omission of HFCS from the ingredients list...
