Progresso 50% Less Sodium Chicken Noodle Soup
Real Simple Magazine named Progresso Traditional as The Best Store-Bought Chicken Noodle Soup, but who wants 80% of the recommended amount of sodium from 1 can of soup? Thankfully Progresso has started to reduce the sodium content by half in it's 50% less sodium soups.
The 50% Less Sodium Chicken Noodle Soup is delicioso! It is obviously a little less salty than some of us may be used to, but that's a small price to pay for the slashed sodium content. I like the fact that Progresso makes this soup with less broth and lots of yummy pasta, veggies and chunky chicken. It actually tastes very similar to Campbells Chunky Healthy Request Classic Chicken Noodle Soup, but I think I would give Progresso the edge - which do you prefer?
One 18.5 ounce can of Progresso's 50% less Sodium Chicken Noodle Soup cost $2.85 and has 2 servings. Each serving contributes 90 calories, 1.5 grams of total fat which is 2% of the RDA, no saturated fat, 20% of the RDA for sodium (470 mg) - 40% for the entire can (still a lot) - 7 grams of protein and 12 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 2 grams of sugars and 1 gram of fiber (4% of the RDA).
So Progresso's soup has 20 calories less per serving (40 calories per container) than Campbell's Chunky Healthy Request, but they both still have quite a bit of sodium. This soup's also approved by Bob's Green Best Life program (Bob Greene is the guy who was/is Oprah's trainer). I agree with Bob and would buy this again.
