Michelinas Lean Gourmet Roasted Turkey

Michelinas Lean GourmetMichelina's Gourmet meals are consistently two things: cheap (each meal costs around $1.00) and smaller than most other frozen dinners. I've had some good ones (Michelinas Lean Gourmet Vegetable Rice Pilaf), and some bad ones (Michelinas Lean Gourmet Rotini with Prosciutto and Basil), so on my last trip to the grocery store, I stocked up on a few that I hadn't tried before.

Michelina's Lean Gourmet Roasted Turkey frozen dinner uses a "chef inspired" recipe, and I would really like to know which chef inspired this mess. This meal is salty, salty and ... did I mention Salty?! 35% of the RDA for sodium in a package that's smaller than most others brands (8 compared to 10-12 ounces usually). Now I love salty foods probably more than the average person (I'm working on it), but even I have to admit that this meal just went overboard. I could feel my blood pressure rising and the beginnings of a headache within minutes of consumption (okay the blood pressure rising is a bit of an exaggeration).

Other than the intense saltiness - as I mentioned before - it's small. There are exactly 4 pieces of turkey and the mashed potatoes are so mushy it's almost soup-like. This is definitely not one of the better Michelina's meals.

One container of Michelina's Lean Gourmet Roasted Turkey has 170 calories 10% of the RDA for total and saturated fat (6 and 2 grams respectively), 10% of the RDA for cholesterol (couldn't they have found some leaner turkey meat), 13 grams of protein and 20 grams of total carbohydrate which includes 1 gram of sugar and 8% of the RDA for fiber (2 grams). This are also 4 Weight Watcher Points.

This is one Michelina's meal that I would avoid. It's not even worth the $1.00 because there is just too much sodium in it. Other Michelina's dinners I would recommend are the Lean Gourmet Roasted Sirloin Supreme and the Michelina's Lean Gourmet Three Cheese Chicken.
