Trader Joes Chipotle Pepper Hummus
After reviewing Sabra Supremely Spicy Hummus, I was still on the hunt for something that was just as good in taste but had less calories per serving. In the comments, Seraph mentioned Trader Joe's. I didn't see the eggplant hummus that she (or he) recommended, so I decided to go for another spicy variety and I picked up Trader Joe's Chipotle Pepper.
Trader Joes hummus has no artificial flavors, preservatives or color - that bright orange color is not artificial! The taste is very flavorful, with the chipotle adding a robustness, but not a whole lot of spiciness. I should have paid closer attention to the packaging because I somehow missed that this was the Mild Smoky Flavor variety. And they are not kidding! This "chipotle" hummus just adds a whispered hint of a peppery taste! The peppery aroma is there, but you don't get much more than that. The texture is perfect - not too thick. This hummus is perfect if you are not a big fan of spicy foods.
One serving of Trader Joes Chipotle Pepper Hummus is 28 grams (2 tbsp) and has 50 calories, 3 grams of fat (4% of the daily value - 25 calories), no saturated fat, 2 grams of protein and 5 grams of total carbohydrates, which includes 1 gram of fiber and 1 gram of sugar. This also has 10% of the daily requirements of vitamin C.
One 8 ounce (227 grams - 7 servings) tub cost $1.79, which is way cheaper than the Sabra Supremely Spicy Hummus. I would definitely buy this again - well actually, I would love to try a spicier version too.

Have you ever tried REAL hummus? Not the packaged version? Because it's healthier AND tastes better.
I'm not a fan of TJ's red pepper hummus either. I think the texture is a real killer (sort of styrofoamy).
@Shooky: Real hummus is fantastic, but also requires me to have tahini on hand.
I haven't heard of this TJ's eggplant hummus before, but am picturing a wonderfully delicious marriage between baba ghanouj and hummus. Yum.
I'm not surprised you couldn't find the eggplant variety; I only visit TJ's about once a month, and when I went back this time around they only had two or three left, as compared to the mounds of original and spicy flavor heaped around them. Maybe it's more of a summer offering, but I advise any regular TJ shopper to keep an eye out for it (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y183/Seraph621/Picture172.jpg).

I've had Tribe's eggplant hummus- and it's all i ever get now. I's be willing to bet the TJ's hummus is better even. But Tribe's is SO GOOD, and I don't seem to get sick of it! I wish it came in the big packages, though, instead of just the one-cup.
Tj's does not pack anything at all, their hummus is packed by Tribe and given the tjs name
