10 Low Calorie Breakfast Cereals
We have done quite a few reviews of breakfast cereals over the years, so we combed through the archives and picked the 10 of our favorite Low Calorie Cereals. Kashi brand cereals dominate the list - no real surprise there, but who would have thought Lucky Charms would be on it?! The nutrition facts are for a 1 cup serving size, and the cereals chosen have a rating of at least 4 out of 5 kisses (each cereal is linked to the review).

Have you tried Cascadian Farms Clifford Crunch? I still adore it, and hold it up there past some of your other cereals. A must-try!
I haven't tried it yet, but a Cascadian Farms cereal review is in the works :0)
Mother's 100% Natural Whole Grain Instant Oatmeal is 150 calories for a 1/2 cup serving but 1/4 cup of the oatmeal with cut 1/2 cup of berries with Cinnamon added is only 120 calories and very satisfying. And unlike the other choices on the list won't leave you with a sugary feeling.
This list is wrong..cornflakes, cherrios and several Trader Joe's cereals have only 100 calories per cup. why put out false info
This list is not wrong - this is based on the cereals that HAVE BEEN REVIEWED on this site. We have not reviewed every cereal out there - and we are also including only the ones that we thought tasted delicious.
We will review some Trader Joe cereals since we are hearing all these fabulous things abouth them - and add them to the list in the future.
I think that the title for your blog entry is a little misleading... or more likely, you need to review more cereals. I can't believe Special K Red Berries is not on the list with 110 cal/cup and 10g sugar. Safeway's Honey Nut Toasted Oats also tastes great and has the same nutritionals. I'd rank those two over any of your top 10. Just my opinion.
You may want to include the word "Delicious" in the title if that is one of the main criteria for making it onto your list.
Special K Red Berries might be low in calories but that doesn't make it nutritious. My favorite low cal cereals would probably be : Kashi Heart to Heart, Kellogs Complete Wheat Bran, Nature's path flax plus multi -grain flakes and Kellog's All Bran
I was surprised to see Lucky Charms on the list. I personally buy cereals that arent just low in calories but also high in other nutrional facts. Kashi does rate to be one of the highest howeve watch some of their cereals they contain sugars and fillers that arent so nutrional. I love Kashi's high fiber & protein. Will go with Cheerios also just because I can have them at my desk and snack on them without the mess. Keep up the articles. Thx!
I like the featured review section of this site. It is very focused and gives you a snap shot of past posts. This is a good list of low calorie and great tasting cerials.
Quacker's puffed rice and wheat has only 50 calories for 1 cup or 1 1/4 cup servings. Mix it with a few berries and splenda it is great. I take the puffed when and drizzle a little honey on top, tastes just like Smacks cereal I ate as a child!
my favorite cereals are kashi go lean (NOT crunch) and puffed kashi. Love!
The list may not be wrong but the title is. I don't consider 150-190 cal as being low for a cereal. Puffed Rice has only 50-60 per 1 cup (depending on the brand), Kix has 60 per 1 cup, Cheerios 100 per 1 cup, About the highest I eat is Kashi Honey Sunshine at 133 per 1 cup or Honey Nut Cheerios at 147 per 1 cup. I was searching the web for low calorie cereals that I had not heard about.
As for what Tanya Taylor said “we are also including only the ones that we thought tasted delicious,” - THIS IS NOT RELATED TO THE TITLE OF THE ARTICLE – it says LOW CALORIE cereals. Dito for what Cereal said about about the Special K Red Berries – The title says NOTHING about HEALTHY cereals. Plus, if you are going to argue the nutritious point lets talk about the Lucky Charms – I'm sorry but 13 grams/cup may be better than some but it is hardly “not bad at all.” And by the way, while you still want to limit the amount, fruit juice has natural sugar. There is a difference. Also, being made with whole grains and having vitamins and minerals does not mean a cereal is healthy. BUT this is all ok because the article is not supposed to be about healthy cereal but low calorie cereal (even though its not).
Oh well, I'll just keep searching...
I HIGHLY recommend Shredded Wheat from Post. It has nothing else but whole grain wheat.
It has lots of fiber (both soluble and insoluble), no sodium, and almost no sugar.
It keeps me full all morning and boosts my digestion. Plus it tastes great if you warm it and add a banana!
