Kashi Mountain Medley Granola
Kashi Mountain Medley Granola gets an A++ when it comes to taste - absolutely scrumptious! It's made primarily from a "Kashi Seven Whole Grains & Sesame Blend", evaporated cane juice syrup, cranberries and raisins - real big tasty ones (the ingredients label doesn't say that, but it should), raisins, roasted sunflower seeds, almonds and pecans etc. Kashi has got this "good taste" thing down to a science, because I couldn't stop eating this - as cereal, by itself as a snack and in yogurt. What makes Kashi Mountain Medley stand out is that it's not as hard as your typical granola, and you can taste the generous amount of raisins and cranberries make in every bite.
While the taste is outstanding, I have to take off some points for all the calories - 220 calories in 1/2 cup! That's 440 calories per cup, compared to 270 calories in Health Valley Granola.
One 1/2 cup serving of Kashi Mountain Medley Granola also has 7 grams of fat, which is 11% of the recommended daily amount, 1 gram of saturated fat, 6 grams of protein and 37 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 12 grams of sugar and and 6 grams of fiber, which is a whopping 25% of the RDA. There is also 300 mg of Omega-3 fatty acids per serving (National Institutes of Health recommended that people consume at least 2% of their total daily calories as omega 3 fats. So that would be 2 grams (2000 mg) per day based on a daily intake of 2000 calories.
This is not the lowest calorie granola out there, so if you're on a diet, then this might not be the best choice. However the taste is outstanding and Kashi uses lots of natural ingredients. One 14 ounce box with 7 serving per container, cost $4.19 - making it also a bit on the pricey side. When you are eating this, be sure to weigh out your serving. It tastes so good that it is super easy to keep eating and eating!

I'm not realy a granola fan as I find it too sweet, how is this in comparison to others?
It's not too sweet at all Jill.
I have just tried this last week for the 1st time and am pretty amazed at how it kept me from being hungry till lunch. Even my husband was amazed.
I've always hated granola, but Mountain Medley is excellent. At my grocer, it actually costs a whopping $5.99, but I won't complain. It's very filling and great in yogurt, as a cereal, or right out of the box. A++ with me too!
