Curves Chocolate Peanut Chewy Granola Bar

Curves Granola BarCurves is a popular fitness center for women only with locations throughout the United States, and they recently partnered with General Mills to lend their name to a new line of products including Curves Granola Bars. I picked up a pack of the Chewy Chocolate Peanut variety on my last excursion to the grocery store (along with Curves Cereal, but that's another review).

I loved the flavor of this bar. It has a sweet chocolatey taste (they used real chocolate chips), and I could taste more peanuts than oats or rice crisp. - think a peanuty, chocolatey candy bar. Plus it has the perfect perfect texture - not too chewy, not too hard. It was so good that I thought it would have a ton of calories, but a closer look at the label reveals that it's 100 calories per bar. Granted, the bar is small at only 25 grams - anything shy of 40 grams just leaves me hungrier.

In addition to 100 calories, the bar also has only 5% of the total daily requirement (3.5 grams) for fat, of which only 1 gram is saturated, 2 grams of protein, 5 grams of sugar and 5 grams of fiber which is 21% of the recommended daily amount. One box of 6 cost $2.77 which is very reasonable.

Yes it taste like a candy bar - and that's a good thing! You see, I'm of the school of thought that the way to start 'dieting' or lifestyle change, whatever you want to call it, is to switch out some of the things you are currently indulging in with lower calorie options - like eating this Curves bar instead of a candy bar.

Although I still prefer natural bars to these highly processed bars (in Curves, you'll see the familiar high fructose corn syrup, but I didn't spy any partially hydrogenated culprits), but this bar is perfect if you have a sugar or chocolate craving.

hmmm, what other flavors does curves make? I have the strong believe peanuts and peanut butter are not meant to be sweet or mized with chocolate.

Rec'd a free sample of this product with my daily newspaper. The texture was nice; the taste was awful. Glad I didn't spend my money on it.

Have to say I totally disagree with both of you. Have bought both types of bars-the chocolate peanut and the strawberries and cream and loved them both. My daughter-who is 7 loved the strawberries one and was asking for them for her lunch. By the way, chocolate and peanuts go beautifully-like a reeses peanut butter cup!!
