Pepperidge Farm Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns
Hamburgers would not be complete without the bun. I simply cannot bring myself to eat a Boca Burger or those yummy Boca Meatless Spicy Chik'n Patties, on regular bread - it's just not the same. However, if you're watching your calories, it can be hard to find whole grain hamburger varieties that won't blow your calorie budget. So I was thrilled to see the new Pepperidge Farm Classic 100% Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns in the grocery store - into my shopping cart it went!.
It might not be as low in calories as some of the "Lite" hamburger buns on the market, but unlike those buns, these are actually big enough to encase a substantial hamburger patty, chicken breast, or portabella mushroom cap. Another thing that differentiates this bun from others is its softness. While white hamburger buns typically have that "pillowy" texture, whole grain ones can be dense and heavy, sometimes making it hard to bite into. These buns, however, are pleasantly soft, making stuffing your face a breeze.
Each large 43 gram Pepperidge Farm Whole Wheat Hamburger Bun contains 120 calories, 2 grams of fat, and 6 grams of protein; there are also 2 grams of fiber, which is 8% of the recommended daily amount. Although the first ingredient is whole wheat flour, high fructose corn syrup is the third.
I purchased a pack of these on sale for $2.00 at a local supermarket, but they normally retail for almost $3. The price is worth it for an enjoyable taste experience and whole grain goodness.

agreed! i caught these on sale at target once for $1.60, so it was home and into the freezer! a little chewy when they came out, but still worth it!
These sound very nice! I was doing the sarah lee wheat ones, about the same calories, until I noticed the first ingredient wasn't whole wheat, I hate that!
aww i just can't do the HFCSyrup. if guest come by and i want them to choose, i'd buy, but that stuff really shouldn't be in bread of any kind.
I also love the Pepperidge Farm onion buns! As a voracious consumer of all things Boca (and the occasional Garden Burger Riblet) I can say not only do these taste great, but they're exactly the right size. They don't swallow my faux-meat with bread. Probably not the best fit with a big juice hamburger, but if you eat a lot of veggie burgers the size is perfect.
The Pepperidge Farm 100% Wheat Buns contain Datem. Check Wikipedia out on this. Call first before eating, especially if you have allergies. IT can be rendered from mono and diglycerides from pork or beef fat. :(
What's the point of eating a garden burger if your going to end up eating a bun that contains High Fructose corn Syrup? POINTLESS! You should avoid anything that has HFCS! A good healthy garden burger high in sodium served on a unhealthy bun..hmmmmm
