FruitaBu Organic Smooshed Grape Fruit Twirls
FruitaBu Organic Smooshed Fruit Twirls look like Fruit Roll Ups, but FruitaBu is made from real fruit (and is certified organic), with each pack being equivalent to 1 fruit serving (the first ingredient in Fruit Roll Ups is fruit, but the 2nd and 3rd ingredients are corn syrup and there is partially hydrogenated oils in it also).
I tried the Smooshed Grape flavor and all I could say is *yum*
. The roll is long - twice the size of Fruit Roll Ups, and it is sweet (maybe too sweet for my tastes). I much say that all I could taste was an apple flavor even though this was supposed to be grape - and a look at the ingredients reveals that apple concentrate is the 1st and 2nd ingredient, while white grape juice is 3rd and 4th - but then apple is back again as the 5th ingredient!
More Reviews on FruitaBu
One serving of FruitaBu is 21 grams and has 80 calories and 16 grams of sugar. The ingredients as mentioned before are mostly fruit, but there are some added additions including organic palm oil - which adds saturated fat (0.5 grams), citric acid, ascorbic acid and soy lecithin.
FruitaBu is made by Stretch Island Fruit Co which makes another terrific fruit roll (which we reviewed), Stretch Island Fruit Leather. Stretch Fruit Leather comes in a smaller package (14 grams - same as Fruit Roll Ups), and unlike FruitaBu, the ingredients are just fruit and nothing else!
FruitaBu is a bit on the expensive side at $3.99 for a box with 6 rolls. I'm not sure that I'm willing to spend that much on a fruit roll. But if you or your kids like this type of snack, then these definitely have better ingredients than Fruit Roll Ups.
