Sweet Leaf Mint and Honey Green Tea

Sweet Leaf Green TeaSweet Leaf Mint and Honey Green Tea is made from "select Chinese green tea infused with a generous amount of spearmint and lightly sweetened with a touch of honey and a sprinkle of organic milled cane sugar" according to the Sweet Leaf website. I think their description is pretty accurate. The flavor was very light and with just a hint of sweetness. But when they say a "generous" amount of spearmint - they aren't kidding!

The minty flavor was overpowering in my opinion. The flavor is what they use in Winterfresh gum - which reminds me of toothpaste. I don't like my gum to taste like toothpaste, and now I know that I don't like my tea to have more than a hint of spearmint either.

Kudos to Sweet Leaf for trying though. They have a very cute bottle label and the company just seems like it's a down to earth small company formed by two friends. The brand is certified organic by the USDA and the ingredients are refreshingly simple: water, organic green tea, organic honey, organic milled cane sugar, spearmint extract, ascorbic acid, citric acid and natural flavors. Plus the nutrition ain't bad either.

One bottle of Sweet Leaf Mint and Honey Green Tea has 2 servings. Each serving has 55 calories and 13 grams of sugars; so one bottle has 110 calories and 26 grams of sugars.

They say it is "loaded with antioxidants and 100% vitamin C." Strange that I can't find the amount of antioxidants in it on the bottle?! They managed to say "antioxidant heave" natural , no preservatives - but don't put a number. It wasn't on their website either. I like the looks of this company - but I don't like to just see buzzwords on labels with no proof of that what they are saying is true.

One 16 ounce bottle cost $1.29. Some people may not mind the minty flavor, but personally, I wouldn't buy the Mint & Honey variety again, but I'm anxious to try some other flavors, so look out for the reviews!

I absolutely loved the Sweet Leaf Mint and Honey Green Tea. It was a little too sweet but the mint flavor was perfect. I bought it on sale but am going back today to get more, even at regular price.
