Lean Cuisine Deep Dish Spinach and Mushroom Pizza

Lean Cuisine Deep Dish Spinach and Mushroom PizzaOn the surface, the Lean Cuisine Deep Dish Spinach and Mushroom Pizza is one sexy looking pizza. It is smothered in cheese and there is a fair amount of mushrooms and spinach on top (fair but not necessarily plentiful). The aroma when it was 'cooking' in the microwave filled the hall at work making everybody around salivate so I guarded it with my life as I walked back to my office and used my newly learned Tae Kwon Do skills to ward off several attacks from coworkers trying to beat me down and take it away (okay maybe I'm exaggerating a bit there). As I settled down and took that long anticipated first bite, things turned pretty ugly!

Where was the flavor? Why is this so bland? My mom always told me that looks could be deceiving (don't be fooled by the pretty boys is what she actually said), so damn you Lean Cuisine for fooling me and making me think this was going to be really good. The taste is non-existent, flat, no where to be found. I looked at the box for clues as to what could have gone wrong and that's when I realized that this pizza was made using Alfredo sauce instead of tomato paste. Even so, you would think that there would still be some sort of "Alfredo taste", but not only was that not making an appearance, but neither was there any flavor from the spinach or mushrooms.

Well, at least the nutrition is not too bad. There entire pizza has 310 calories, 10% of the RDA for fat (7 grams), 20% of the RDA for saturated fat (4 grams), 18% RDA for sodium (430 mg), 17 grams of protein and 46 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 4 grams of sugars and 4 grams of fiber (18%).

This was on sale for $2.50, but I don't think there will be a repeat purchase of this particular Lean Cuisine Pizza. Now that I look back at the reviews, I haven't found a Lean Cuisine pizza that I thought was more than average - certainly nothing coming close to Boca Supreme Meatless Pizza or South Beach Diet Grilled Chicken and Vegetable Harvest Wheat Crust Pizza.

Aw, I'm disappointed you didn't like this, it is my absolute favorite pizza!

I always add a little extra shredded (fat free) mozzarella or swiss, sometimes a little extra spinach. I also like spreading laughing cow on the crust to make it creamy. I always keep my additions under 50 or 75 calories to keep the total under 400.

How funny! This is my absolute favorite as well. Out of all their frozen pizzas this one is the best. I don't add anything to it. Just a side salad if I am having it for lunch.

oh i like this pizza also! and the brick oven style ones. i think they are a better (taste) bang for the (calorie) buck than is the amy's one.

I love this pizza, too. I think it's very tasty!

I love all lean cuisine pizzas--but I always have to add a few dashes of garlic salt.

I have to agree with everyone...this pizza rocks. Oh, and the Marguerita flavor pizza is the absolute BEST out of them all!!

and i also agree with everything, this pizza is great. WHY THE LOW RATING?! i love it

Hmmm what is wrong with your tastebuds? I thought this pizza tasted horrible as well. I remember purchasing this pizza because I read rave reviews. I thought it was very bland. I tossed it into the trash. The crust isn't even whole wheat.

If I eat this pizza I always cut up fresh mushrroms and put them on top before I micro it. It adds a little flavor. I would have to agree thoguh that to get flavor in this pizza you have to add it.
