Wallaby Organic Lowfat Black Cherry Yogurt
It is getting difficult to make a yogurt that stands out from the competition. Wallaby Yogurt company, however, does a notable job of distinguishing itself with its organic yogurts. The low fat black cherry had a noticeably rich purple color, which gave it an appetizing appearance. Spoonfuls were thick, as they should be. The taste was creamy, though slightly watery - yes this may sound like an oxymoron, but the yogurt was actually very enjoyable. There was no fruit on the bottom but instead small chunks of cherry were in the yogurt.
One 6 ounce cup of Wallaby Organic Lowfat Yogurt has 150 calories, 2.5 grams of total fat (4% of the recommended daily amount), 1.5 grams of saturated fat (8% of the RDA), no trans fat, 7 grams of protein and 25 grams of total carbohydrates, which includes 19 grams of sugar but no fiber. One cup also has 25% of recommend daily dosage of calcium. Sweetening comes from organic cherries and evaporated cane juice. No sugar was added.
Wallaby was priced fairly equal to other organic yogurts at Whole Foods. The price was about 90 cents per cup, and I would definitely try this brand of yogurt, especially if you are trying to eat more organic foods.
