LaTortilla Factory Whole Wheat Low Carb Low fat Tortillas

LaTortilla Factory TortillasAnn's recent review of FlatOut Multi Grain Wraps inspired me to start making some wraps to take with me for lunch. Frankly, I was also getting a bit tired of microwaved meals and I needed something that could be prepared quickly, be healthy, low calorie and filling. Enter my not-yet famous Chicken Tortilla Wraps (the messy wraps shown in the picture).

Thanks to Molly's comments on the FlatOut wraps, I decided to try LaTortilla, so on my next trip to the grocery store I grabbed a pack of the Whole Wheat variety. I made my not-yet-famous wraps in the morning (iwhich took less than 10 minutes) and I had it for lunch. LaTortilla wraps have a slight starchy /wheaty taste. When I used it in a hot sandwich (chicken quesadilla made on the George Foreman grill), this was even less noticeable. I really enjoyed LaTortilla, but I must confess that I might have been influenced by knowing that one wrap is only 80 calories.

The chicken tortilla wraps that I made turned out to be a little over 200 calories each (I cut one in 2 - so there are 2 whole wraps in the picture). There was 60 calories from 1/2 a serving of chicken strips (4 pieces) and 60 calories from 1/2 a serving of shredded cheese.

One 62 gram LaTortilla Factory Whole Wheat Wrap has 80 calories, 3 grams total fat (5% of the recommended daily amount), no saturated fat, 8 grams of protein and 19 grams of total carbohydrates, which includes 1 gram of sugar and 14 grams of fiber which is 56% of the RDA - wowza!

A pack of 8 costs $3.19 and is well worth the money.

I also enjoy these wraps, although I still am in love with my Flat Outs. The La Tortilla wraps I find to have a slightly low-carb, gummy taste and texture, but with the addition of lots of healthy fillings, this is not really as noticable. I usually buy these when the store is out of the Flat Out Multi Grain Flat Outs.

Have you tried the "heart healthy" La Tortilla wraps made with olive oil? They are big and 90-100 calories. The tomato basil one is REALLY good!

I'm a big fan of these.

I love these! I usually buy the smaller size though; they have only 50 Calories each--that way I can have two! Also, I like to cut them into wedges and bake them for homemade tortilla chips. Their slightly sweet taste gives them a unique flavor.

Oh sorry, I made a mistake. There are various types of tortillas made by La Tortilla. The ones I refer to in the previous comment are the Extra Virgin Olive Oil kind (100 cals), not the Heart Healthy kind (170 cals). But the flavor (Tomato Basil) is correct. Sorry!

Where can you purchase these Tortilla's from Latortilla Factory in BC? Are there stores in Nanaimo BC?

I was buying the whole wheat low-carb tortillas at Smiths grocery..they no longer have them... where can I get them in Henderson Nv
can I order them on line?

Cosco has been carrying a 20-count pack of these for around $5.99 - which is a better price than most stores offer.

I shop for these at my local Cosco. They are pretty cheap there and very delicious to eat.
