Amys Organic California Veggie Burger

Amys California Veggie BurgerMost veggie burgers tend to try and come similar to the taste of their meaty counterparts. Thank goodness that Amy's doesn't bother with that because they made a fabulous product which is now my favorite veggie burger (this title was previously held by Morningstar Farms Veggie Tomato and Basil Pizza Burger). Amy's California Veggie Burger doesn't use soy, like most other veggie burgers and that's why the taste is so unique. It has a slightly crunchy texture and a slightly breaded taste. Honestly the taste is very difficult for me to describe - can I just tell you to go try it, because you won't regret it?!

One Amy's Organic California Veggie Burger (71 grams) is 140 calories, 5 grams of total fat which is 8% of the daily recommended amount, 0.5 gram of saturated fat, 18% of the RDA for sodium (430 mg), 6 grams of protein and 19 grams of total carbohydrates, which includes 2 grams of sugars and 16% of the RDA for fiber (4 grams).

The main ingredient used is mushrooms, followed by onions, celery, carrots etc. And as is usual with Amy's, the ingredients are organic. These veggie burgers aren't cheap however, at around $4.50 in the stores, and $4.29 on Amazon.com. So while on my budget, I may not be buying this every week, but when I do reach for a veggie burger, I will have this Amy's in mind.

Amy's California Veggie Burger has been my absolute favorite for a long time, and continues to be my favorite!! I love that it's made with whole grains, vegetables, and walnuts - not artificial flavorings, additives, and overly-processed forms of soy (i.e. not "pure soy" like tofu, tempeh, etc.) such as that found in Boca burgers (yuck). Amy's definitely knows how to make a delicious (and vegan! yay, haha) veggie burger :)

That's good to hear because I'm so turned off by the idea of buying veggie burgers that when I did by the Amy's they sat in my freezer until I had to throw them away.

There is a vegetarian place here in Philly that has me so hooked,I can't imagine liking anything enough to compare so I just do without veggie burgers and buy for this place. After trying the pizza last week (Amy's that is) I reconsidered and decided to try out the burgers. Now I'm like did I actually waste that box without even attempting to try them!!

thank you for the review. As a vegetarian, it really is nice to find products that don't try to imitate meat. I wish more companies realized I don't really need a meat substitute, I just need a quality vegetable product that tastes good.

Anyway, added this to my shopping list for next time I go to Whole Foods.

I love Amy's entrees! I've never tried their burgers though, because I usually avoid the sort of "meat alternatives" like you mentioned that try to mimick the flavor of real meat. However, based on this glowing review, I might have to check these out!
