TrueBlue and LiteBlue Blueberry Juice
The "Blue" juices were actually the color of grape juice and not 'blue at all. The 'regular' Blue was sweet, but there was no other flavor to it. It was a bit like drinking grape juice without the 'bite'. LiteBlue is sweetened with Splenda and is slightly tart (very light), but no aftertaste - thankfully so. One 8 ounce serving of TrueBlue has 110 calories and 26 grams of sugar. One serving of LiteBlue has 50 calories and 11 grams of sugars. Both have added sugar (cane sugar). I am a big fan of getting juices in the diet a few times a month, but it would take a "super juice" to get me away from my beloved cranberry juice, which has approximately the same amount of antioxidants as blueberries - if I were to go off the study that TrueBlue uses as the basis of it's claims AND it helps keep urinary tract infections away. I can't see blueberry juice topping that - although I must say that I have also fallen in love with Acai juice - specifically BomDia Acai with Pomegranate [read the review]. * A note about blueberry being the numero uno antioxidant fruit - I am assuming that the study that TrueBlue uses as the basis for it's claims is the article published in Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2004, 52:4026-4037. In that study, cranberries had just as much total antioxidant capacity as blueberries and the study did not involve acai or pomegranates. Comments
