Horizon Organic Chocolate Reduced Fat Milk

Horizon Organic Chocolate MilkNow this is what chocolate milk is supposed to taste like! I think I was a little scarred from drinking Dean's Chocolate Milk Chug, which I thought was horrible [read the review], but here comes Horizon Organic Chocolate Reduced Fat Milk to save the day. It tastes like ... milk, but it was a tad sweet (well at least for me). I wish I could see more manufacturers not adding so much sugar to chocolate milk - and let it taste more like 'milk' instead of 'sweet milk.' But still, I really enjoyed this.

In addition to coming in the regular cartons, Horizon Chocolate Milk also comes in a nifty single serving box with a straw attached. It's an attractive package and the perfect size for kids to take to school. This milk is also UHT processed (ultra high temperature) which makes a shelf stable product so no refrigeration is necessary and the expiration date is much longer than for regular pasteurized milk - and thank God for that because it sat in my hot lunch bag for hours before I remembered to put it in the fridge - and when I finally drank it, it was still good.

One 8 fluid ounce serving of Horizon Organic Chocolate Reduced Fat Milk has 180 calories, 5 grams of saturated fat, which is 7% of the recommended daily amount (RDA), 3 grams of saturated fat (14% of the RDA), no trans fat, 8 grams of protein and 27 grams of total carbohydrate, all of which is sugar. There is also 10% vitamin A and 25% calcium.

I won't quibble about the fat, since this is all natural, but I would prefer around 15 grams of sugar - after all, milk is not naturally sweet, and I don't expect chocolate milk to be much sweeter. The 8 ounce single serving carton was only $0.50 at the time of purchase from Whole Foods.

Calorie Countdown's chocolate has half the calories with a great taste, five grams of creamy fat. There's even a gram of fiber in it. Yum. Maybe you've already tried it though, I havn't searched.

How can this have five grams of saturated fat AND three grams of saturated fat?
"5 grams of saturated fat, which is 7% of the recommended daily amount (RDA), 3 grams of saturated fat (14% of the RDA)"

Typo?

Wow, I'm drinking the Trader Joe's version of this stuff at this very moment. I think I even prefer the TJ's version. I love that this milk is shelf-stable, which means that I can take it anywhere, plus it gets some calcium in my system when I'm sick of yogurt and fortified OJ.
