Diet Trash: Deans Milk Chug Chocolate Milk

Diet Trash is about the food products you might eat because you think you're doing something better for your diet, but you'll be surprised to know, they're not.

Deans Milk Chug Chocolate MilkDeans Milk Chug Chocolate Milk is utter diettrash. The ingredients are milk, sugar, nonfat milk, high fructose corn syrup, cream, cocoa, food starch, salt, carageenan, vanillin (artificial flavor). Don't even think about adding this to cereal - imagine my surprise when I scooped out my cereal and then opened a bottle of this and instead of a nice free flowing liquid, I got a thick goopy mess. Even then, I still went ahead and tried it. It is so incredibly sweet that I just ended up tossing the rest of the bottle. I believe this product has really strayed from the definition of "milk." Please check out the review of Silk Chocolate Soymilk [read the review], which even though it is not 'real milk' it is closer to the real deal than this!

One 8 ounce serving of Deans Milk Chug Chocolate Milk is 210 calories, 8 grams of total fat which is 13% of the recommended daily amount, 5 grams of saturated fat which is 26% of the RDA, 8 grams of protein and 27 grams of total carbohydrates, which includes less than 2% of the RDA for fiber and 25 grams of sugar.

So, it has more calories than Silk Chocolate Soymilk; it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of taste; and it costs about the same at $1.85 for an 11 ounce bottle. I don't think I will be buying Deans Chocolate Milk Chug ever again.
