ThinkThin Chunky Peanut Butter Bar
ThinkThin Bars are all natural, sugar free (and might I add artificial sweetener free), gluten free, high protein (20 grams) and only has 2 effective net carbs. There are a few different varieties of ThinkThin (and none of the names sound "thin" to me), like white chocolate chip, dark chocolate, chocolate mudslide and chocolate fudge - there seems to be a "chocolate theme" to these bars. There is also creamy peanut butter and crunchy peanut butter - which is the one I tried. And wouldn't you know it - the crunchy peanut butter bar has a chocolate coating on the outside.
I probably need to say up front that I am not a big fan of peanut butter (maybe Ann should have been the one to do this review instead of me), but that didn't pose a big problem since there was only a hint of a peanut butter taste. There was however, that sticky, tacky, cloying texture that I find peanut butter has. Thankfully the bar wasn't too sweet, because there was no added sugar. They did add sugar alcohols (glycerol and maltitol) - and quite a lot of it too (13 grams per bar). I thought this bar was okay in taste, but since this is "snack bar review week" I must say that this is not going to be one of the top contenders.
One ThinkThin Chunky Peanut Butter Bar is 60 grams (most others are 40 or 48 grams) and has 210 calories, 8 grams of total fat and 3 grams of saturated fat, which are both 14% of the daily value, no trans fat, 9% of the daily value of sodium (200 mg), 20 grams of protein and 26 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 1 gram of fiber (4% of the DV), no sugar and 13 grams of sugar alcohols.
This bar weighs 60 grams and so has more calories than most of the other bars reviewed, but believe me, you are not losing out much if you get a 48 gram bar instead - well, you are getting less calories and fat.
And, if I had time I would post the ingredients list of this "natural" bar and the Gnu Foods natural bar. Since I don't have time, you can see the ingredients lists for Think Thin here and for Gnu Foods Chocolate Brownie Bar here. There is a remarkable difference in the ingredients used and in the length of the ingredients list.

Yay, I love bar review week! Is there any way I could persuade you to review the Kashi GOLEAN Crunch bars? They have similar nutrition facts to Lunas, and I've been so curious to try them!
Think Thin also has a Cashew Pecan bar which is delicious (and I highly recommend) and a Chocolate Coconut which I haven't tried. I don't know what the difference is but the two I named are in a blue wrapper.
^and...the Cashew Pecan has 150 cals.
Casey: I grabbed the GOLean bar, so that's coming up later this week.
Anon: looks like I might have to do another snack bar week because I am getting some great recommendations.
I used these bars religiously when I was first in recovery as a mini-meals. It was also a great, easy way to get protein. But now that I'm getting better, I'm happy to say I don't HAVE to rely on these bars anymore - that weird blend of maltitol and cocoa powder only tasted tolerable if I ate the thing with coffee.
Note that there are two types of ThinkThin bars - Organic and "regular" - the organic ones have a lot less calories (around 150), and are imitators of Larabars, rather than just other flavors of ThinkThin bars. They are NOT protein bars - they are composted of nuts, dried fruit, and all raw.
The Regular ThinkThin bars are frankly, amazing for protein bars. My favorites are the non-chunky varieties - peanut butter and fudge. I have yet to try the white chocolate and the dark chocolate. I get them at the bulk store for $1.59 each, and at Trader Joe's for $1.39.
I am hooked!
You're comparing apples to oranges - while the Gnu Bar may be more natural, the Think Thin bar doesn't claim anywhere on its label that it is. However, if someone is looking for a high-protein bar, ThinkThin contains 20g, while Gnu a mere 3! Granted, Gnu's got A LOT of fiber! But again - apples to oranges. If you don't like peanut butter, then no, this bar is not for you...
What is the best tasting healthiest bar. low sugar, high fiber, reasonable carbs
Think Thin is the only protein bar I have found that is gluten free and has more than 5-6 grams of protein. At 20 grams of protein this bar does pretty well when compared with other protein bars. If anyone else can recommend another gluten free protein bar let me know.
Larabars are also another great alternative for those who can not eat gluten/wheat. They do not have as many grams of protein however they do not contain sugar alcohols either. They are are raw bars (dates and nuts.)
Beware: Gnu bars contain wheat.
Miss Tenacity, you should go on ebay. You can get about 40 of them for 15 bucks!

celiac,
gluten free options are a few: "Organic Food Bar" brand has a protein formula with 24g per bar, and also the PureFit brand is gluten-free. Enjoy!
PureFit bars are by far the best gluten free protein bar we have tried and are a lot healthier than most as regards fat and protein content.

I love these bars!! I also am a huge fan of Peanut Butter. I have been eating clean (not perfect) for awhile and these taste like Peanut butter cups to me
I like the white chocolate ones and the best!
