Raw Revolution Coconut and Chocolate Organic Live Food Bars

The strong name of this bar, Raw Revolution, the edgy design of the packaging, the dark brown rustic look of the bar and the hefty weight (64 grams compared to 48 grams for medium sized and 28 grams of the smaller bars), all combined to make me feel like I was eating something that was close to mother nature. I felt like I was doing something good for my body and the Earth - and all this before I even had the first taste. Raw Revolution bars are gluten free, vegan, wheat, corn, soy, trans-fat, cholesterol and refined sugar free too.
When I did bite into the Coconut and Chocolate bar that I tried ... it wasn't what I expected. The bar wasn't as sweet as I expected a bar with chocolate to be - it was more like unsweetened chocolate; and there was an underlying tartness /bitterness to the bar which was totally unexpected and not pleasant at first - but I got used to it.The taste is definitely ... different, but I found that I liked it the more I ate. And since I am a fan of coconut, I really liked the texture and flavor that it added to the bar. There are quite a few reviews of Raw Revolution Bars on Amazon.com and it seems like this flavor got the lowest ratings [link]. But honestly, I liked it after I got used to the taste. I love the fact that I was eating totally unprocessed ingredients.
One 64 gram bar has 265 calories, 15 grams of total fat and 5 grams of saturated fat, which are 24% of the recommended daily value, no trans fat or cholesterol, 1% of the RDA for sodium, 6 grams of protein and 27 grams of total carbohydrate, which includes 17 grams of sugars and 17% of the RDA for fiber (4 grams).
I was a little disappointed in the nutrition. I could live with the caloric content since I found that I did not eat this bar all at once, but kind of kept picking at it throughout the day, BUT I don't want to spend almost a third of my days fat 'allowance' on a snack bar.
One bar cost $1.69 at the time of purchase. They could have made these bars smaller which would have reduced the calorie and fat content. But overall, I liked the taste, although it may definitely be more of an acquired taste. AND I loved the whole 'raw concept' so much that I am going to give the other flavors a try. If anybody has tried these bars, could you share your favorites in the comments.

I love all of the Raw Revolution bars. It's my way of eating chocolate and still feeling healthy and they are relatively inexpensive.
