Powerbar Pria 110 Plus
The last time, I reviewed the Mint Chocolate Cookie and this time, I tried the French Vanilla Crisp. It was sweet, crunchy and made me feel like I was eating a candy bar (a vitamin enriched one). There is a vanilla flavored icing on the outside of the bar, only they call it a "yogurt" coating on the ingredients list - puh-lease! The ingredients in said "yogurt" are sugar, milk and vanilla - sounds like vanilla icing to me! One bar is 28 grams and has 110 calories, 3 grams of total fat which is 5% of the recommended daily amount, 2.5 grams of saturated fat which is 13% of the RDA, 3% of the RDA for sodium (80 mg), 5 grams of protein and 17 grams of total carbohydrate which is includes 9 grams of sugar and 4% of the RDA for fiber (1 gram). There is also 15-60% of many of the vitamins and minerals. Although the Pria Plus bar seem to have less calories than other bars, it is also smaller than most (many are 48 grams). It may have been sweet and it may have reminded me of a candy bar, but I actually liked it. I think it's a great choice if you are trying to decrease your calorie intake but craving something sweet. It costs $0.79 at the time of purchase from Whole Foods, making it one of the cheaper bars around. But I am not sure how much a snack this would make by itself - it's so small. Comments
