Gnu Foods Natural Flavor and Fiber Bars

Gnu Foods Natural Flavor and Fiber BarsGnu Foods Flavor and Fiber Bars are my latest obsession. People have been asking for an all natural fiber-ific snack for a while and so here you go! There are a few different varieties to choose from.Cinnamon Raisin, Chocolate Brownie, Banana Walnut and Orange Cranberry - and that list is in order of my preference. All the bars are moist and chewy and the flavors of each bar really come out in the taste. That's a great thing in my favorite bar - Cinnamon Raisin, but not so great in my least favorite one - the Orange Cranberry. With that one, there is a strong 'after effect' happening in my throat which feels like I accidentally and unknowingly ate some raw orange peel/ rind which left a lingering, unpleasant sensation. The other two Gnu bars are also yummy though, and if this was a race for my affection - the Chocolate Brownie bar would beat out the Banana Walnut - but only by a slight margin. Most cereal bars I have tried tend to taste alike, but I can say because these are of the softer, chewier texture, they do stand out from some of the others I have tried.

One Gnu Bar gives you 50% of the recommended daily amount of fiber (12 grams). AND (as if that weren't enough), they use all natural ingredients, so there is no high fructose corn syrup, no refined sugars (no added sugars at all in a few of the bars), no preservatives, no artificial flavorings - and the list goes on!

One bar (40 grams) has 130 calories, 3 grams of fat which is 5% of the daily value, no saturated or trans fat, 4 grams of protein and 31 grams of total carbohydrate which includes 12 grams of fiber and only 8 grams of sugar.

Consider that a lot of the calories are because of the high fiber content and I am content with munching on Gnu bars at work - which I have been doing all this week. There is an online store at the Gnu Foods website [here] where you can get your Gnu fix for $1.99 per bar, or buy it by the pack (5 or 16) - which makes them cheaper. I absolutely love these and will be buying them again. Also check out another review at Really Natural [link] for another opinion.

I haven't tried these yet, but I've read nothing but good reviews about Gnu bars. Another good choice for a nutrition/fiber bar is the Organic Fiber Bar (read about it at renewlife.com)

I tired these and I wasn't impressed with them. I like the Clif Nectar bars better.

Hey, because of your review, I bought the Cinnamon Raisin bar at a healthy food store at the Newark Airport! It was very nice! Thanks for giving me the heads-up on this company.

Tried a box of the Choco Brownie based on this review - excellent! Will be ordering more plus the Cinna Raisin. The Organic Fiber Bars are too high in calories, and the Clif bars too low in fiber. The Gnu bars can't be beat.

I just had a banana walnut bar, and while my first reaction was "this is NOT banana walnut bread" by the second bite I really enjoyed it.

These are absolutely delicious. Every time I go to the checkout counter the cashier always makes a comment as well about how good they taste. The only bad thing is that they're hard to find and kind of expensive :(

I usually never write comments for products, but I've had my fair share of bars and these are absolutely one of the best bars out there taste wise with all natural ingredients. The amount of fiber is superior to other bars and keeps you satisfied. They are worth the price and don't leave any funky after-tastes in your mouth like other options. Cinnamon raisin is by far my favorite(I just had one...)
