Diet Trash: Coastal Bay Confections Starlight Mints
Diet Trash is about the food products you might eat because you think you're doing something better for your diet, but you'll be surprised to know, they're not.
Starlight mints are very popular. They are those hard white mints with the red striping going around the outer edges. Mints are simply sugar with added flavoring and color. 
I was shocked to discover that just 3 starlight mints are 50 calories. Now, I am not suggesting that 50 calories is a lot, but this is dietTrash because you can easily add an extra 100 calories from eating a few mints - something you might never think about. I think I'll be sticking to sugar free mints from now on, like Ice Breaker Sours Sugar-free Mints or better yet, Slim Mints.

Hi there, Good news about those mints... there are 50 calories in 3 mints, not 50 calories per mint. I was shocked when I read your post because I used to eat those all the time as a kid and the calorie count seemed a little off considering how small they are. I also remember reading somewhere that they were about 20 cals each. The info is on the walgreen's site (just lookup starlight mints). I don't know if this warrants removal from DietTrash- but it might!

Why can I not find my very special candy = mint chocolate = I have visited every close Dollar Tree Store neae by and I can't get an answer. I hope you haven't discontinued distributing this delicious hard candy. Could you let me know if I can find them any where else. Thank you.
I love your peach rings but have a hard time finding them. The Dollar Store on Laskin Road has them sometimes. It is very irritating to be able to get them one week and then not be able to get them again for a month. Is there anywhere else in the Va Beach, Va area that I can get them?

I just bought 5, 6-ounce size bags of my favorite treat called, Butter Mints, and had paid $1.00 for each bag at a nearby dollar-store. But for the first time, I was very disappointed because I had to throw-out all 5 of these defective bags of your Butter Mints right in my trash-can. All 5 of these bags were completely all broken-up into little pieces and all crumbs. I couldnt even eat any of them at all. Why did these 5 bags have all broken-up butter mints in them ? The Coastal Bay starlight mints are not as good as they used to be. It once had a strong taste of peppermint in them , now it just has a faint taste of peppermint. I am going to quit buying them and I used to buy 5 or more bags at a time and often. I guess I must be a PEPPERMINT ADDICT.

I have been unable to find the coastal bay fruit bon bons at dollar tree in my area any longer. Does anyone know of any other store who carries them. I was unable to get an answer at the phone # they have listed on the bag.
The formulation of the Chocolate-Filled Mints has changed as well as the wrapping & packaging. The flavor of the mint is different and there is much less chocolate inside - in fact, almost none. Very disappointing.
