Healthy Choice Creamy Garlic Shrimp

Healthy Choice Creamy Garlic ShrimpThe Healthy Choice Creamy Garlic Shrimp meal consists of shrimp tossed with bow-tie pasta in a creamy garlic basil sauce, complemented with a side of green beans and carrots and a cherry crisp dessert. I enjoyed this meal and my only complaint is that I wish there was a little more of it. That said, they didn't give us any wimpy, scrawny baby shrimp. Instead, Healthy Choice had the good sense to provide us with plump, juicy, tender shrimp - the more-than-one-bite-to-eat-it type. The sauce was flavorful and the garlic wasn't overpowering as can happen in some of these meals. There was quite a lot of sauce - maybe too much - which made the meal look like there was more to it than there really was. The vegetables remained fresh-tasting even after microwaving it for 5 minutes. I always have a problem with Healthy Choice including fruit in oatmeal and syrup dessert, otherwise known as "cherry crisp" in this meal, BUT since I was still hungry after eating the shrimp and veggies, I did eat the dessert, even though I would have preferred more vegetables or shrimp. I preferred this cherry crisp over the peach and pineapple ones that they have in other meals.

The Healthy Choice Creamy Garlic Shrimp meal is only 280 calories and 5 Weight Watchers Points. There is also 5 grams of total fat and 1.5 grams of saturated fat which are both only 8% of the recommended daily amount (RDA), 25% of the RDA for sodium (600 mg), 13 grams of protein and 44 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 16 grams of sugars and 5 grams of fiber (20% of the RDA).

Most frozen dinners have 25% of sodium, so I am no longer surprised at the amount, althouh I wish they would lower it. I thought the nutrition of this meal was pretty good and maybe I would add a small salad or some rice to make a really full dinner at under 500 calories. I would definitely buy this again, especially since there was a $1.00 off 4 meals coupons in the grocery stores this week - but Healthy Choice goes on sale often.

I must try this. And also, you were one of the websites that inspired me to start my own review site, so thank you! :)

I have been a bit scared to try a frozen meal with shrimp in it. There's just something about microwaving shrimp that puts me off, but this review might change my mind. What I don't agree with is the cherry crisp. I LOVE it! Now, not many frozen meals provide a dessert, so I don't have a lot of comparisons, but I still totally look forward to the cherry crisp!

Really? I just finished one and YUK. The dessert was the only edible part. My green beans and carrots were underripe and the sauce in the pasta tasted like milk and water. You are right about the shrimp though, they are manly shrimp. :D

Thanks for the inspiring review! I, too started thinking about starting my own site after reading this. I found your site while searching for information on today's lunch. (When the box doesn't fit, I frequently place the entree into my lunch box, with the directions.)

My shrimp didn't happen to be as manly as yours, although they were a good bite each. I agree with your assesment of HC's fruit+syrup+oatmeal "desserts" as seeming like dodging the dessert question somehow. Although I prefer their apple "cobbler", the cherry is quite edible. I also found the garlic to be just right, not too much.

Thanks!
