Tropicana Essentials with Fiber
If you haven't heard about Tropicana Essentials yet - you better check the refrigerated juices in your supermarket. The Tropicana Essentials line offers 100% pure squeezed orange juice - with a little something extra! In this case, it is extra fiber, but I have also reviewed Tropicana Essentials Healthy Heart [link] which has added cholesterol lowering plant sterols.
Tropicana Essentials with Fiber tastes great - of course, because Tropicana has been making orange juice since the dawn of time! The benefit of this juice (other than the fact that orange juice is naturally good for you) is that there is 3 grams of fiber in every glass, which is 12% of your daily requirement. This is similar to the amount of fiber in 1 actual orange BUT the fiber is added is in the form of FiberSol-2, which is derived from corn. Is the source of the added fiber important to you? I would love to know, so please leave a comment and tell us!
One 8 ounce cup (serving) of Tropicana Essentials with Fiber has 120 calories, 450 mg of potassium, which is 13% of the daily recommended amount and 29 grams of total carbohydrate which includes 3 grams of fiber as mentioned before, and 22 grams of sugar. The sugar is not added, but comes naturally from the orange juice.
I have also previously reviewed Tropicana Essentials Light which is "lower in sugar than regular orange juice" and I absolutely despise it (that sounds a bit harsh) - because it is essentially orange juice to which water was added, and then an artificial sweetener - so they can say it has less sugar than regular o.j. It just irritates me every time I see it in the supermarkets! Let's just accept the fact that juices have sugar!
I was on an "increase the fiber in my diet" drive last week - as you may have noticed by the reviews Kelloggs All Bran Honey Oat Bars and Fiber One Cereal with Honey Clusters - which both are a good source of fiber. Although the added fiber in Tropicana Essentials Fiber is not a lot, every little bit helps and since the price is around the same as most other orange juices at $2.50 for a 64 ounce carton, I would definitely buy this again.

I'm loving this fiber focus. Keep the reviews coming! Though, I do feel like I'm cheating when I eat things with added fiber rather than naturally fiberiffic stuff.
I'm actually not too concerned about getting enough fiber in my diet. As a vegetarian, most of my good sources of protein are also fairly high in fiber.
HEB supermarkets no longer stock tropicana oranjuice with fiber(in Victoria, TX) I Think this product is great-is there any other location in Victoria where I can find it?
not available in Victoriak,TX
I use to buy the Tropicana orange 100% juice in a square glass bottle @ the gas station store. I loved buying it because I like orange juice at least once a week if not more but was very upset when it went to plastic. Now I don’t buy it & I don’t drink orange juice very much anymore. I would like to see the glass bottle back in orange juice & Milk. I buy the small milk in the glass bottle once in awhile. I hate plastic because it goes in the food. They are now just realizing it about baby bottles. BRYING back the GLASS JARS. PLUS it taste better in a glass jar. thanks Brenda
